Shore came back when Knox lost focus. Size of pack and aggression in the forward the difference. Shore clearly stretched at Prop with one young fella playing 3, part of 2s and part of 1s. While they have two backs to return at some stage (10,15) the incumbents are getting better but need to attack a high ball vs letting them bounce. Would also think need some size in centre field to match up better. Also need to look at sizing up the pack as their 2s pack look solid (yes a smaller Knox team) and executed set piece well. Would expect some changes and positional shuffles in the pack to size up and sharpen up for the final trial! CAS: Knox v Waves will be a good game clash of the packs!38-26 Knox. Post game review to come.
The replaced both props with Armarti and Hamilton went on also replaced a 2nd rower and back rower with Frape and Murdoch. Not sure any were for a major injuries. Props equipped themselves well and would think both could push for time in upcoming weeks. Other two were on for less time so hard to assess how effective. Can anyone tell me who subbed on for Shore 1sts today? I heard the were substantial substitutions being made in the previous games against Waverley and QLD state high.
And also anyone out at Wahroonga today able to comment on the performances of the Shore youth in the front row, Tom Green (prop) and Henry Baxter (hooker)?
Thanks for the detail much appreciated. The replaced both props with Armarti and Hamilton went on also replaced a 2nd rower and back rower with Frape and Murdoch. Both Green and Baxter played well despite giving away some size to their Knox counterpart’s - the scrum held well despite giving away size across the board.
Yes only a few forwards have 1s experience from last year. Both backs still injured - maybe one will be back for Rd1 (15) and then the 10 back much later. Seems a few injuries across the schools so hoping as many as can be healthy for the GPS rounds. Thanks for the detail much appreciated.
Agree with the size comments, something I noticed was the substantial decrease in size across the forwards and backs. Last year must’ve been very heavily weighted by the 2024 year 12s.
Also wondering about where Bassingthwaite and Callaghan were?
Will be interesting to see how the season plays out for them this year.
