The Ghost of Raelene
Nick Farr-Jones (63)
Going off the scores from v View I think Newington should handle business fairly comfortably. Doesn't seem Cranbrook have the depth bring guys up from 2nds either. No points scored in 1sts or 2nds...
Very fair to say that if Declan wasn’t badly injured playing in the 1’s in Year 11 he would have been a lock for the 1’s in year 12 and would have made a number of rep teams beyond the all conquering Aussie U18 7’s team in 2024.I think there has been some confusion regarding the Minto brothers
The Joeys #15 from the game against Waverley is Julian Minto (yr10)
His older brother Declan finished at Joeys in 2024 and missed his final year of schoolboy rugby due to injury, however I believe he was apart of the Australia U18 7s side who became victorious at a global tournament in New Zealand late last year. Word has it he has gone on to sign a huge deal in France. "would’ve struggled to break into the First XV during those seasons" is hard to believe in that matter.
Roberts-Lintmeijer won the opens 100m at GPS so may be himMr. K,
Key Takeaways from the Kings vs Newington Game (K38–N33)
Kings:
- Risati (#12) – A standout in the Kings' backline, delivering moments of brilliance that shifted the game's momentum. He looks very comfortable in the #12 jersey and will be exciting to watch this season.
- The team’s overall endurance was a major highlight and contributed significantly to their win. While Kings appear to be lacking in size, the return of key players Founa and Smith should help relieve some pressure on the forward pack.
Newington:
- Already acknowledged, but worth repeating: Heamasi (#11) needs to be utilised more. In the few opportunities he had with the ball, he consistently gained metres or scored tries. He might be more effectively used in the centres or in crash ball plays.
- #14 showed great speed and agility, looking dangerous every time he touched the ball. It’s been said he won the GPS 100m – can someone please confirm this?
High rugby on the rise! next week's TAS fixture will be interesting.yep - High actually led for the whole game. When the main squad were on, High look pretty bloody sharp in the backs with some hard straight running fed by a pretty good half back. their game lost shape a bit when they apparently ran on a lot of their 2nds. ( as that game was washed out).
Shore are a brand new team as the higher grades released all their reserves pushing 11 boys from the 3rds into the 4ths so they need some time to gel.
The equivalent High firsts, shore 4ths game last year was a blow out so High look to be a lot more competitive this year. injuries permitting.
Good bbq, good array of snacks, mums are lovely... Has to be a top 3 contender IMO.What are our thoughts on the Riverview Canteen?
Fear not ghost for it all kicks off this weekend...Good BBQ with lots of friendly heads but Canteen hot food is below standard of others.
Quality content this. Good stuff.
God we need games.
Keen to join this year Jokes. The AAGPS tipping comp is up again.
I am once more happy to do this job. I have time on my hands as I am now medically retired.
In the past this has been a lot of fun and each year we see winners come from many backgrounds.
Last year it was a schoolboy who won (won't reveal the school)
Question?
Would like to participate this season.
Entries close on WEDNESDAY before round 1.
Just reply with an indication of wanting to join.
There are limited places again this.
In 2025 I will be deleting tippers who miss three rounds in a row.
When this happens I will invite those who missed out to join and they will start with the points of the deleted tipper.
A reminder on how this works...
TIPPING comp entries close WEDNESDAY 14 May @5pm .
Intresting result Ice. I believe the game was around 35-5 not 50-5, bit of an error here.Bit late on this, but Augies 50 Scots 5 caught my eyes. Does anyone have the Scots 1st's team List. Im guessing there were a few injuries.
Ice-Man, over and out.
