NSW AAGPS 2025

True, and one of the reasons for the slow ball was New's habit of lying on the wrong side of the ruck. It was frustrating they weren't pinged for it but fair play to Newington. If the ref lets it go then you take full advantage.
Joeys did an equal amount of lying on the wrong side of the ruck

Where's the beef

Exactly, don’t forget Auggies as well, who are absolutely denuded of talent by Joeys and others and still they manage to dominate the ISA.

I am actually having drinks with a couple of recent ex-Auggies come new Joeys parents tonight.

Other schools (Kings, New, Scots) probably are more obvious about it, but Joeys literally invented combing the mostly Catholic school system far and wide for talent a very long time ago.

If Joeys did actually have a Kindy rest assured they would absolutely be scouting the Northern Beaches and Hills preschool rugby pool for talent ;)
This is Crap as an old boy. Joeys does NOT need to recruit. The secret to Joeys is Mateship and College ABC every night playing touch. Because of the dorms more kids come in in years 10 and 11 but they bang down the door rather than joeys seeking them out. It was the same for boys coming back particularly if you were in 1XV or 2nd XV because they actually dont want you back because its the next years turn.

2 Rounds down, same story.

Callum Grantham (Newington) leads the conversion kickers in just about everything. I can't remember a better kicker.

Bede Fogarty (Joeys) is the overall points leader, with a pie against Shore helping his case

Oliver Smith (Kings) is putting his hand right up for a representative spot with his 4 pies in two games. Unreal stuff from the Kings hooker.

Despite conceding 40 today, St. Joseph's College remain the best defensive team.

And I would also say thanks to Callum Grantham, Newington College are leading the point-scoring way with St. Ignatius' College right on their tail.

Play on into round 3 gents.

Agreed. but new were combative at the ruck
They were very good. Tempting to say Joeys' goalkicking cost them the game but I thought New were the better all-round side on the day (and I say that as a Joeys OB).

Very good forward platform giving their halves great service allowing their centres to make great post contact metres and several clean breaks. Joeys' centres are a real strength but their Newington counterparts continually broke tackles and also were very good defensively.

Newington's discipline was also better. This is something Joeys need to address as they gave up way too many penalties against Shore last week as well.

The Controversial Penalty: A frame by frame analysis
Thank you Ruck for your great analysis. But seriously, you have analysed 9 frames all within a matter of a few seconds and then you have gone through 3 possible outcomes and deemed a penalty should not have been awarded. I understand your frustration, but do you seriously expect the ref to be able to make a decision as accurate as yours?

I totally agree that the ref didn't have his best day but this sort of scrutiny is simply unreasonable.

I suspect many people always intend to finish their boys at Joeys, the $52k a year it costs makes it hard for many to afford 6 years at Hunters Hill So go elsewhere for a few years.
whilst we can fairly say Joeys isn’t the most academic school it does perform better than many such as Waverly or St Augustine’s and I think there is a trend to improve academics under the new administration.

If there it was a messy ruck or an obvious issue that was called wrong I would understand, but a clean, textbook tackle & ruck with a call for who knows what is where I am bewildered.

Very disappointing performance from TKS team after a hard fought win over TSC the week prior. Really only a couple of shinning lights from the team. As has been the trend for them it was the forwards that kept them remotely in the game. Lavercombe, Smith, Perrett and Fonua played tough and when the ball was with those boys, it was the only time TKS looked like something could happen.
Credit where credit is due, the SIC boys played smart and Grover led his boys around the park well. They played smarter rugby and definitely knew those opponent. Dempsey also a standout for the View side from my perspective.

Or maybe, just maybe, crazy suggestion, the ref standing 2 metres from the ruck saw something we may not have picked up on Streamers 4 pixels.

There have been multiple pages of ref bashing, black propaganda and libelous statements.
A day like today will do that. It is a normal reaction but don't let it continue.

All of this shall stop.

Want to talk about "the word that shall not be mentioned" take it elsewhere
Those who decide ignore this and make personal attacks shall have a holiday.

Who’s got attendance estimations for all sides?

Heard Shore and New had solid away crowds.
Wouldn't say that for Newington. On the Eastern side there was a relatively small group of Newington boys, no more than 60-70. The Western (grandstand side) was pretty full, about 2/3rds of which would have been Joeys boys & their supporters. Reckon overall crowd would've been around 1700-1800.

Nudge,
My analysis was made purely in an attempt to understand why the call was made - I didn’t and don’t expect a ref to make a call with that level of precision, and that wasn’t the point. Those three claims were chosen because after reviewing the footage several times they were the only reasonable claims for the legitimacy of the call. Obviously if there was something else in the footage I would have pointed it out - my analysis was not limited to just those three claims - but as far as I can tell there wasn’t, so I didn’t. At the end of the day a call was made that decided the game, and in my opinion it isn’t unreasonable to hold a ref accountable. It’s an entirely different to a ref calling a spurious knock on halfway through the match. At the end of the day, my analysis won’t change the outcome of the game, so I can only hope it will lead refs reading it to be a bit more certain in calls with such weight.

No hate for the ref - it is not an easy job and I can understand how difficult it is to make such calls, and ultimately the ref cannot be blamed. Had Shore played a little better, that penalty wouldn’t have lost them the game. My analysis was purely made for academic reasons.

EDIT: I began writing this before seeing Joker’s recent post

Worth stressing just how good Joeys No.1 oval is. You would simply never know how much rain we've had this last week by looking at the pitch, which was immaculate. No mud patches, firm underfoot, no slippage, just astonishing, really.
