Great game to watch. Shore led 12-0 in the early stages of the game but Scots were able to crawl it back and took the lead with 15 to go 17-12. Shore score with 2 minutes to go but couldn’t convert. Scots score in the corner on the last play of the game to take then win. 24-17 to Scots
Missed that game, any standout players?

If RUL was at the 16A’s game, he would have clearly noticed that the scoreline was 17-17 and the scrum was from a Shore knock on before the clock went to 00:00. Shore was definitely not in front. Neither team was complaining as it looked like they were going for a win. Scots won the scrum and lost the ball to Shore in a jackal shortly after. If Shore wanted to end the game there and then, they could have kicked the ball into touch. They didn’t and were going for a win. Shore made a run for it and got past the 10 metre line before the ball carrier was isolated and penalised for not releasing with 2 Scots players immediately over him. This eventually led to the winning try very quickly after. It was a good contest and should not be marred by incorrect information like Shore being in front at full time and insinuating play went into extended time until Scots won.
very well said, also many individuals forget that the scoreboard clock at Scots college isn't accurate as the referees posses their own watch with the correct time. Thus leading to the conclusion that streamer and the official scoreboard at the game isn't accurate.
Sincerely

Way too early Power rankings:

1. Newington - only undefeated team after 2 rounds (shows how tight the comp will be), looked well drilled at the ruck as well as a strong set piece, along with a few players to come back from injury, will look to storm this competition 10 years on from their last.

2. Joeys - still second, was a very tough game against Newington only going down by 1 point. Also with a few players coming back soon should be a very strong team looking to push Newington.

3. Riverview - With the tight loss to Newington last week as well as beating Kings comfortably and troubling the Kings scrum. They are a dark horse to push in the second half of the season.

4. Kings - Although they suffered a tough loss to View, they have the players and skill to challenge any team on there day seen in both pre-season games against Newington.

5. Scots - Don't have much to say on Scots, they have some very skilled players like the Large brothers and big Heinz Lemoto, they did struggle to beat Shore. Again not much to say.

6. Shore - from Premiers last year to bottom of my rankings this year. Without Rex for half the season and Jai for who knows how long as well as all the year 12 talent from last year, I cant see them doing much until Rex and Jai are back.

So much can change in such a long season, when I come back to this at the end of the year, it will probably be laughable.

I believe the 7ths game against shore was cut short due to a broken rib or something along those lines.
I did hear similar news of a hit to the ribs taking a shore boy to the ground for quite some time. Game was called off with only minutes to go anyways. Scots ended up winning the game by 5 tries.

Anyone got a match report on Scots v Shore 3rds. Heard it was pretty tight

It was a bit of a muddy day out at Bellevue Hill. The Scots boys definitely started very slowly, and the Shore boys came out charging strong. Early tries from Shore gave them the early lead and definitely set the tone for the first half. Scots looked strong when they had the ball, but were pushing unnecessary passes, which cost them possession and ultimately led to Shore being more on the attack and Scots being put on the back foot. In the second half, the Scots boys definitely got a strong word, and it seemed like they came out stronger and showed more endurance than the Shore boys, being a lot more dominant in the second half and bringing the game back. Ultimately, Shore stayed ahead, but Scots definitely woke up in the second half. Both teams played great footy despite the conditions, and it was another great day of watching footy in Bellevue Hill.

It was a sad day for the Scots 3's, but it was a good wake-up call before round 1 next week. I can't wait to see how they match up against King's Round 1 on Scots main oval.

An unbelievable win and one of the historic days in schoolboy rugby for Newington College, although I’m afraid it’s been overshadowed by the school’s rotten behaviour. In all my years affiliated with the College (ON1978), I have never seen such unsportsmanlike conduct when the Joeys #10 was being vehemently booed during a conversion attempt late in the 1st half.

Not sure if anyone else was there - but for me it’s completely unacceptable. And, with the final score being 40-39, it could hold serious ramifications for the season’s trajectory with Newington gaining momentum…

PS - does anyone have tabs on the Joeys #15? Was easily the best on field despite being on the losing team, and have heard rumours he’s in Year 10

Regards,
Loosehead.
Hardly overshadowed. Anyway, put some perspective. New students are not allowed to sit on stadium side, so instead they are provided an aluminum scaffolding quality seats on the other side of the oval where half the side of the field is roped off for spectators?! Absolutely comical.
If you want some respect, maybe joeys should make some seating available for opposing teams instead of this arrangement.

From what I saw, Newingtons away crowd was better then expected. Probably about slightly more than 100. They were vocal the entire game and only booed when Joeys scored while number 1 (Akioula) was unconscious.

Look, call it for what it was, unacceptable. As was the lout that was screaming at the new kicker in the first half. To the Joeboys cheering credit, when some of the younger kids started to laugh at the lout, they shut them down.

As for the stands, it is what it is, the left hand side is for parents generally joeys, the right is for parents which is a mix. The boys well at least you get some seating. In many places, joeys puts up with far less.

Some of the best culture/cheering I’ve seen recently. Also getting quite rowdy towards the end with lots of noise and aggression from the crowd.
Just rewatched for the first time. I was impressed some good passion out there. I think it all came together towards the end. Good drumming, chants and overall outrage at the bagpipes every single time created a good atmosphere!

Joeys supporters must be loving this distraction.

Like the gov dropping findings of an inquest the same day some salacious rumour about V’landys (the horse racing guy) (the horse racing guy).

All swept under the rug.

Would love some feedback around the Joeys v New game.

Will give the Ghosts irrelevant thoughts on Monday.
I think Joeys can hold their heads high. A great match and the still most likely “grand final” with the View team smokey-ing around somewhere nearby.

Real passion when things didn’t go there way as well. I definitely think that crowd will keep turning up after yesterday. Will be interesting to see if they get even bigger numbers out at Stanmore next week.
