Fred,

If the referee is so bad in your opinion, then what are YOU doing about it?

The shortage of quality referees is well known, and you seem to be very knowlegeable about the finer points of the games laws.

Guess you have already signed up for the first available Referee course then?

After that the Referee Coach course Level 1 and Level 2 beckons.

You CAN make a difference, but not by having cheap shots at the referee in a blog.

Gents, the ref was fine (even watching through the cloud dust).

The repeated penalties were getting too much. Scots the previous week were grumbling about the New boys leaving their feet and sealing off the ball yet learnt so well they themselves were guilty of this a week later. I understand that the Scots team mgt were so incensed by the ref in the New game that they sent a tape to Moore Park! (what next a QC (Quade Cooper) on their payroll). There must be something up with the coaching when a team gets penalised big time 2 weeks in a row.

The ref penalised Scots in the Shore game approx 5 times in the red zone before going to his pocket. He managed this correctly with 2 cautions to the captain along the way. If he didn't then use cards then he would have been negligent.

Teams should focus on their own games and not the ref.

The open side flanker ( 7 ) you are referring to is Stuart Mill and he is definitely back next year! He's a boarder from country NSW.

I agree. I forwarded my report for editing with no MOTM. I cannot change what the editor adds or deletes. That is why I name quite a few players from both sides in the positive, but I know that the editor was at that end of the field at the time. I no way shape or form would I denigrate the effort that ANY of the teams that played that day. If I was pushed for a MOTM, it would be any of the front three for SJC. They are IMO seriously the best I have seen in many a year. Mobile to a new level, strong in both the scrummage and the breakdown. One thing that sticks solidly in my mind from last week was No3 Sandell chasing as hard as anyone, JUST missing a chargedown kick. Brilliant!

9. Lucas Vianellos*
11. Oscar Pople was in year 12 this year and chose not to stay back another year
I think a battle for 1sts and 2nds spots will be tightly contested by some U15's players going into 16's next year

George - that backline looks pretty good! Cannell has been outstanding this year and I agree with the prediction of a move to a mobile 2nd rower when they lose Olivier Damas, who has also been outstanding in a quiet, workhorse kind of way. New have the back row covered I think, the big challenge will be up front! Strong has hardly played this year with various injuries - Tim Lee has been making a good fist of hooker in the 2nd's.

Cheers, Wreckless :)

Nick Kellaway is a forward; PJ Beran is in Yr12; Olly Kamp will be No.7 (he's not playing currently due to concussion); the majority of this years 2nds backs are from the 2011 16A's and will make the 2013 1st's ahead of the 2012 16A's (Crafts, Mason, Yassmin & Champion); Crossley was 1st's hooker prior to suspension and will probably earn recall next year; Starkey will probably be 5/8 having played there thru' the age groups

^^^ That is a surprise to see the Lough boys following in Jim Stewart's Path from St Aug to Scot.

The powerbrokers at Easts will be happy to have some more players lining up for their rep squad at State Champs.

Luke Lough is in the 2012 U14s!
Are you suggesting that the family is moving because otherwise they will stay at Gordon - PS EAST HAVE NO REP TEAMS PAST 13'S!!!!!!!!!
Part of the frigging problem in the East.
I swear you guys dont know how bereft of rugby we are in the east.

Looks like it will be another interesting year in 2013 with some evenly matched teams - Kings are certainly looking good with so much 1sts and 2nds rugby experience returning next year - like Newington this year they also seem at least on paper to have the best all round talent at this stage. A lot can happen between now and this time next year - I recall that many saw Riverview as the favourites before a ball was kicked this season and then Kings emerged as favourites after the trial games.
