As kids relative skills, fitness, abilities, injury status, motivation and priorities change from year to year, previous representative selection is no guarantee of future selection but is a useful starting point for selection discussions.

To get the ball rolling, based solely on last years selections from National Schoolboys Championships, the "pencilled in" selection discussion starts along these lines:

2016 "Incumbents"
NSW Schools 1st XV
1. Opeti HELU – Newington College, AAGPS, (2015 NSW II, Aust Barbars)
2.
3.
4. Nick BROWN, The Kings School, AAGPS, (2015 NSW II)
5. Michael FENN, St Ignatius’ College Riverview, AAGPS, (2015 CS)
6.
7. Dylan PIETSCH, The Kings School, AAGPS (2015 NSW II)
8. Mila HINGANO, St. Augustine's College, ISA (2015 NSW I)
9. Will HASKINS, Shore School, AAGPS, (2015 CS)
10. Patrick PELLEGRINI, Champagnat Catholic College, CCC (2015 NSW II)
11. Nick WILKINSON, St Josephs College, AAGPS (2015 NSW II)
12.
13. Tyrone TAUKAMO, Newington College, AAGPS (2015 NSW II)
14. Blaise BARNES, St Josephs College, AAGPS (2015 NSW I)
15. Ryan LONGVILLE, Trinity Grammar School, CAS, (2015 CS)

2016 sees the fewest number of "Incumbents" returning from the previous year for a long time, so there are many places are open for grabs in the NSW I, NSW II as well as the usual 10 or so positions that NSW players typically gain in Combined States.

There may be some other 2015 "incumbents" returning that are still in the 2016 "Unknown" status from below:
Joshua OXLEY, St. Stanislaus' College, ISA, NSW I
Ryan CONNOLLY, Hunter Sports High School, CHS, CS
Alex POHLA, Narrara Valley High School, CHS, CS

The 2015 NSW Schools U16 representatives will be keen to try out for a gig in the "big show", as will those from the 2015 SJRU and NSW Country JRU Under 17's and the members of the various 2015 Junior Gold Cup U17 squads. West Sydney U17 won the 2015 U17 JGC.

Details on All State Selection dates and trials are up on Aust Schools Website:
Here ->
http://www.schoolsrugby.com.au/2016/news/state-trial-dates-2016/
and a bit more here->http://www.schoolsrugby.com.au/2016/news/sydney-schools-rugby-draws-2016/

Interesting that there will be 4 ISA teams at Rat Park on 19/6 with an ISA III XV playing a combined ISA Div 2/Div 3 team, as well as the usual ISA I v CHS I & ISA II v CCC fixtures. Wonder how that will happen?

Occasionally there is a player from a ISA Div 2 School who makes it to NSW I or NSW II. Will that player be limited to the ISA Div 2/Div 3 team, and therefore only get 1 game in front of the selectors, or will they find themselves in ISA I or ISA II on merit?

The traditional CHS v CCC Trial, and CHS v CAS Trial fixtures don't warrant a mention on the ASRU page. Are those fixtures no longer official "selection trials"? If my maths works out under the regime on the Aust Schools site, each association gets two official selection trials. Previously CHS had 4, CAS and CCC had 3 while AICES, AAGPS and ISA only had two trials.

Its usually pretty close, HJ. Give or take a decimal point.

To add to the mystery is an update on the CAS Representative teams page:
Dates
Sat 18th June – 2 CAS Squads announced.
Sun 19th June – Recovery session at Cranbrook from 9am
Mon 20th June – Training @ Knox 1 from 4pm
Tues 21st June – GAME v GPS @ Shore from 1.45pm & 3.00pm
Thur 23rd June – Training @ Tyneside Oval from 4pm
Fri 24th June – GAME @ Curagul from 10am & 12.20pm
All Open boys selected in CAS squads are to meet at Cranbrook School on Sunday 19th June from 9am sharp.
So no CHS vs CAS trials this year??

So they are in alignment with GPS dates, interesting to see what the future holds. It's a shame about the CHS fixture, wonder if this will impact the holding of the CAS North vs South Under16's prior to the CHS game?

I believe there are no CHS games. I understand CAS are playing ISA and AICES on 24th.

A lot of recognisable names in the 2010 PSSA team. What ever happened to Bradley Amituanai? Was quite dominant in his junior years at New.

Also curious as to whether Lucas Choi still plays rugby at Kings.

Believe Bradley went back to NZ and Lucas isn't playing due to a back injury
