Paywalled article in the Hurld says that Sir Iceman & Eroni Clark are heading up a consortium looking to establish a Pasifika Super Rugby team & that this is a spinoff/ dress rehearsal of sorts for that concept. If they can't bring guys out from the actual islands for it then expats & heritage players will have to suffice.

Well let's face it , Akira is hardly going to make AB squad, Frizell would have to have 6 locked up, if not him, Ardie, Papali'i and Boshier would still be ahead of Akira, even if he is playing best I have seen uo until now. Mikaele Tu'u and Sotutu would both be well ahead at 8!

At the risk of being called a one-eyed Loss Bleus fanboy I'll have Papali'i at six every day of the week, he's that killer-tackle defender we've been looking for since Kaino headed o/s & once he gets over the ball he just cannot be moved.

No probs with Papali'i at 6, I think Frizell offers the tackle defence the same, a bit better with ball in hand , probably better in lineout, but in saying that Papali'i seems to be winning a bit, and you probably right, maybe a bit better over the ball. I think I have tended to look at him as a 7, but he certainly could be a cracker 6 with Sotutu and Cane , just drop Ardie in off bench and I tend to think not a bad loose forward unit!
