While I agree these teams of the week aren't accurate I wouldn't say this decision is "cooked" watched the live stream last night and Padua 15 was quality scored 3 of his own and assisted on a number of others so it's not an egregious decision.
I would put in context of the game played and the opponent. A 65-0 drubbing of the bottom of the table team up against what was 1v 2 game between Ashgrove and Lauries.

Agreed however using the term "cooked" implies the Padua 15 has no right being selection when he played lights out also and was a massive reason why they were able to put 60 on them.

Fair play. It was definitely not my intention to have a crack at the Padua player.

Round 5 of the AIC season is here (WET GAMES AHEAD) with 4 action packed games and everything to play for with a few rounds remaining.

SPE (h) v VILLA: Villanova will look to continue their momentum upon this SPE pack, VILLA 14+.
SPC (h) v IONA:
SPC and IONA both hungry for wins after their respective losses, I see Iona 14+ as well.
PADUA (h) v SLC: by far the game of the round, a Laurie's win over Padua would be devastating and ultimately give Marist the premiership. Padua have been far superior and their wins show this. Padua 2 games in one week last on Tuesday over SPE could effect their pack with a shortened preparation time, but everything went well against SPE and Padua presumably went into the game thinking it would be a bit like a training session. This game could go anyway, Lauries hungry for a win after being 'embarrassed' by Marist on their own old boys day. Padua 7+
MAR (h) v SEC:
Marist College Ashgrove playing at home in front of what I have seen as Super Saturday round with old boys and special events, expect a somewhat a large crowd, last year Marist won against Lauries on Super Saturday and apparently the crowd was very loud. Expect the same against SEC as its also the year 12's last home game ever, Marist wont take this game lightly at all especially with the stands filled behind them (from what I have been told). I don't see this game going well for SEC. MARIST 40+.

Downlands College beat your "top of the ladder" team and would hate to see how Nudgee and them would go. AIC comp is very weak with only 3 teams being in contention to win it all every year and then with 40+ flogging weekly just makes for a boring comp

This is a AIC forum and regards to the Rugby remarks about how Nudgee would go and other schools in the AIC competition, you forget to realise that there is no if not maybe 1 scholarship school in the AIC it is all home grown talent, AIC schools do not go and head hunt kids with remarkable talent and implement them into their programs. You are probably right GPS schools would be very strong against us but only due to the fact that GPS schools give sport scholarships like handing out lollies to kids which respectfully gives their programs the best success, good on them.

The AIC competition broadly will overtake the GPS programs in the future due to the fact that they simply don't play a wider range of sports such as AIC does (RL ,AFL), Kids across Brisbane choosing an AIC school over a GPS school because it offers a wider variety of highly played sports across the state. And the Rugby Union AIC competition across the 5 rounds played has actually become narrower in 2025 comparing to the past years in regards to the points deficit difference gaps between schools. This year has been far more entertaining than some of the past. Also my remark about the 40+ is my own tip, I just accounted for the factors that Marist had in their favour and it seems pretty close.

Imagine comparing these competitions to each other when one actively steals players from the other.... at MN U15 trials the other day alone 3 of the best players there were ex-AIC students... if AIC sucks so much why do GPS schools take their players?

With the weather expected over the next 24-36 hours some of these scores may come in quite a way.
I think Laurie's will enjoy a wet track and it might slow down some of Padua's exciting outside backs. Goal kicking may become a determining factor and I'd say Laurie's have the edge there. Padua still favourites in a close one.

Padua

Let’s be honest. Padua would beat Downlands any day of the week.
At the u18 QLD state champs in Townsville last week Downlands had 18/19 players in the darling downs team as a 1st XV really. and met north had 6 from Padua, 5 from Pats, 3 from BGS and the rest from random schools. No Nudgee or Marist boys. Met North won 18-14.

Not quite sure about this one. Very shallow comments for someone claiming to be a "coach" as yourself. Make a comment or don't comment at all.

Scrum out, Cher.

Cheers Scrum for your constructive criticism......

I was more trying to show that it doesn't need to be a "top 3" AIC team to beat Downlands as the original poster had implied. But it looks like Dennis has been banned so maybe shouldn't have bothered. Never thought I'd offend a scrumhalf but i suppose it doesn't take much.

CN out, Cher.....
