the BBC centre pairing would have to be one of the most dangerous in the comp with Tai Taka starting at outside centre who IMO was one of the better centres in the comp last year and would be looking to build off of that this year, and you pair that with Kiama Jione who has made the move from No8 to inside centre and is looking to have transitioned well it may end up being TSS centres who will need to bring their A game.
who are the TSS centers.

Ohh aplogies on that one, I did know Taka was there. This is shaping up to possibly the game of the week to look out for. What do you guys think will be the game of the week.
Cheers

like you said Dennis this is definitely the game of the week, nudgee will be better then churchie, however TGS vs state high could show out but i dont think itll be better then BBC vs TSS.

this sounds like music to my ears @GPS Lover, the thought of the K-Train with more open pastures in the backline this year has me biting at the chops. Teams could hardly stop Jione off the back of the scrum last year leaving them with little hope this year as potentially the most damaging ball runner in the GPS joins the backs. If the coaching staff can manage to get Taka and Jione to play in perfect harmony then we could be looking at the best centre pairing since Horan and Little.

At a glance I agree that TSS v BBC looks like the game of the round, but for mine, the game I’m most interested in is definitely TGS v BSHS. Why? I guess it’s the fact that BSHS has less exposed trial form than most other sides and TGS still feel like a bit of an unknown in terms of whether the reality will live up to the hype. Shame these trials aren’t streamed!

Where would you say BBC place? I think about 6th.

ATA
Cheers ATA,

Oops mate, how could I forget BBC. I would say they place maybe slightly higher than 6th, but then again I have concerns for their forward pack. I'm sure they have plenty of strike in the backline - the likes of Kefu and Taka, but really not sure about the pack. So I would agree with 6th, but with a possible top 3 backline (Debatable). Maybe they could be higher.

Cheers,
T.B

We've currently got 30 people in the Tipping Comp. If you would like to be added either message me privately or say so in this chat. I've been asked if we can begin with practice rounds during the final trials. If you're interested in this let me know in the Tipping Thread. We'll leave this thread to Footy chat, if you have questions about the Tipping comp message in that thread.

Good Morning All,

Hopefully now that Cyclopath has done a bit of a clean-out and sent the gremlins packing, we can get back to what this forum is actually about some genuine footy chat.

So, I’d like to pose a proper rugby question to kick things off: Which GPS school has the best all-round backline from 9 to 15 and why?

I’m not just after names I want to see some real analysis. Who controls the tempo at 9? Who’s your general at 10? Which combos are clicking? Who’s a genuine threat out wide? I’d love to hear breakdowns of structure, strengths, depth, and why your pick stands out across the whole backline unit.

Looking forward to seeing some actual rugby brains at work on this one.

Cheers, D.B

Morning all,

Hoping we can start a genuine conversation before all the GPSschool boy pile.

Who’s got the mongrel in the back row this year? Any combos out there really tearing in at the breakdown and putting in the hard yakka?

looking forward to what the forum has to say.

Hey DB,

Look you can't go past the Nudgee backline its got some real experience and I believe will play a huge role in them bringing back the premiership. Starting with reardon at 9, he is a real hard worker and controller of the game. He runs some of the best support lines in the GPS and its noo wonder why his name is more often than not at the. top of the stat sheet, his record speaks for itself. He played a role last year of the bench for the 1s even scoring a couple tries on the inside. His defence is a real strong point and he is one tough bugger. Moving into the number 10 jersey, Archie mesritz, he played 2 games last year starting at 10 when O'Connel was injureded and didn't look out of place one bit. He is a real controller with great vision, and a good running game. With Fien possibly at fullback alongside him they compliment eachother very well with great vision of the field, overall plaing good eyes up footy. Both of them havee good boot and will be good to see them linking up with eachother. Moving into centres there is many options with Bond Bradley, Billy Spicer and Piere still to come back from injury. Between the 3 of them you can't really go wrong. Bond Bradley's Goalkicking ability's will be very valuable, with I believe only missing 2 kicks last year in the 16a's season. He also played a versatile role of the bench last year playing anywhere from centres to wing. Spicer is solid especially for a 16 year old, gives you great defence and gets you over the advantage line. It will be good to see Pierre back in action aswell. Moving to the wings a real point of experience, with premership winning Oli patterson soon to come back from injury and ethan grimshaw on the other wing who also played a number of games last year. With good speed and skill from both of them they will be real attacking threats out wide. There are plenty of other options aswell with youngstar eli rauluni having some great games in the trials along with fullback curtis lambert who has been great. There will be lots of pressure for selection which is really great to see.

Cheers TBB
