Only 6 of the entire Nudgee 15 had the same numbers as was provided in the game day booklet and obviously to the commentators (due to last minute injuries and jersey's not fitting).

The list should have read:

1. Tom Forde
2. Brandon Bell
3. Harry Vella
4. Cayle Manu
5. Harry Cannon
6. Ethan Bullemor
7. Hayden Moseley
8. Bailey Tautau
9. Phoenix Hunt
10. Reesjan Pasitoa
11. Jangala Bennett
12. Joe Small
13. Xavier Soli
14. Ethan Robins
15. Daniel Atkinson

11. Bennett and 7. Moseley were the best for Nudgee for mine.

Ordinarily at least one of the commentators is more familiar with the competition, but for round one neither of the guys filling in had seen much GPS footy recently.

Marty Lippiatt is still busy with QPR and I'm out of town for the first few weeks, so there was no-one available to correct them during the game.

It's an easy mistake to make when neither school bothered to provide the commentators with accurate team lists.

This was the GT team sheet provided to the commentary team.

GT:

1. Levi White
2. Ethan Dobbins
3. Melvin Maveaga
4. Harry Wilson
5. Jacob Stocker
6. Charlie Round

The 5 for GT was a standout on and off the ball and was clearly one of the best players on the park for his leadership and rugby knowledge. the 4 (Manu) for Nudgee was also very good but 2 totally different players. The 4 for nudgee got carded also for a brain explosion that was clearly a silly moment but he came back on and played very strong. The round one clash was a great spectacle one of the better GT v NC games I have bare witness to over the many years of watching.
Standouts for me was
GT - 5, 3 and 9
NC - 11, 6 and 12

I love it when parents rate their children quite high! Guess you have to continue getting his name out in the rugby world to be noticed though. Great effort mate.

Sorry I did get mixed up between Cayle Manu and Ethan Bullemoor, but in the game I watched Harry Wilson didn't play very well, and I have watched plenty of GT and thought he was a standout player last year. However I think the point of a ToW is not to pick on reputation, but on the form of said week, and based purely on that I don't think he stood out. He will no doubt go on to take the competition by storm over the next 8 rounds but this just wasn't a game I thought he dominated.

Any other reports from TGS v BGS ?

With all due respect to the TGS 1st XV (always put up a fight, always put in an admirable effort - I do admire them as a rugby school), BGS would be kicking themselves over that performance. Kicking for territory seemed to be a pretty clear tactic. Several times early on, particularly off set piece, BGS proceeded to kick despite having decent field position (like honestly 30m out). This side is very well drilled and Paul Warwick (from what I have seen thus far) is quite a strategically sound coach. But with the likes of Hamiso, Gilbert (now injured) and Waight out wide, geees - keep the ball in hand. Multiple times Hamiso had a winger outside him with a very very healthy amount of space in front of him (marking up against 2 TGS backs) off a scrum - and it was kicked into touch. We know what the kid can do when he runs - stunning piece of play which led to Sheperds try. Mind you, the kicking game did work the previous week vs GT. #9 Jakob Morrison's box kick is real asset.
Forwards seemed to tire towards the end which was unfortunate. Lineout just didn't click on the weekend for some reason - just had an off day that's all. Missed the breakdown presence of the usual #7 and of course the ball carrying prowess of Emile #3 - despite Lovelock playing his heart out. Unsure about #7s injury but DoR at BGS informs me that #3 should be right to go soon. Debutants were understandably nervous - we need to give them time.
TGS, as always, will most likely shock a heavyweight of the competition this year up the range.

I suspect a case of analysis paralysis, guess we will see this weekend when BGS play NC.

I am tipping:
TSS by 19 up the range
IGS by19 halfway to the range
NC by 29 under the flight path
GT by 19 1/4 way to the range

Could not agree more with your comments. BGS will be kicking themselves as they needed this game to build confidence into NC this weekend and BBC the following. Watching from the hill it just seemed TGS wanted it more than BGS which is a little worrying. I didn't feel that TGS had that much to offer but just worked harder which is sometimes all you need. The other concern is I doubt Gilbert will be back anytime soon which will leave a rather large hole in their back line, both in defence and attack. Let's hope they hang in against NC and if they don't get a win, not let NC run up a big score.

Just as an interesting side note the first 15 game up at TGS this weekend is starting at 3.15pm. I would think this is because TGS are down one field for this season because of the construction of the new gymnasium, once this is finished the field will come back on line. So I am thinking the later start may be the case for all TGS home games this year. Can start to cool down pretty quickly that time of day up on the hill.

Where can you find all age group results from all schools? Rugby link not updated by BBC and NC assuming its the home teams reaponsibility.
