^Well 9 x 5’s are 45 - everyone gets their 5 player minimum

Add then add another 2 to 3 each for who they all agree are the top 4 schools this year - which comes to 54 players

54/2 = 27 to a squad

AIC seemed to go the other way with 11 from Pats , 6 from Marist and 3 from Iona - and these 3 shared the Premiership

5 other schools representing the other 10 spots - but no Eddies - so only 4 in fact

Maybe Marist and Iona supporters would disagree as to distribution of the numbers - but AIC actually went for a performance / merit based approach , and for that , they should be congratulated

Irrespective though - the best 18 on Gold and Navy , irrespective of their number , haven’t been missed and I’d still expect GPS Schools to make up 75% minimum of QLD 1 and QLD 2 - assuming squads of 25

So not a pooch screw when it ultimately works it’s way through and comes together

Isn't it 7 spot across 4 school? Viva la egalitarian!

Nudgee were in blitzkrieg mode v TGS on Friday Night — a far cry from the pedestrian effort v GT the previous Friday Night at GPS

First half was more a bit of sparring , even though , Nudgee always looked in control but 2nd half was Round 9 Crawford v Horn ( TGS being Horn )

TGS looking vulnerable , defensively , in midfield /13 channel this year that Pasiota and Tautau both exploited with big moments in the 2nd half

Good to see Nudgee starting to roll as they should but sad to hear the loss of Phransis Siaso ( Prop ) for the season

Agree with the above observations GO. TGS were falling off tackles everywhere. Nudgee were on fire and should send a few alarm bells ringing, although we probably saw close to their best on Friday night. TGS have plenty of room for improvement and their forwards need to get their heads around playing the ball and not the man.

GT vs BBC Trials - Trys
  • 16A - 0:13 min
  • 2ndXV - 1:24 min
  • 1stXV - 2:44 min

Thanks Tashara- interesting result in 16A - that’s meant to be the dream team coming through from BBC and GT last years team did not set world alight. I guess being a trial there is more to it or quite a few are playing up a year in 1sts now??

Also first any notable absences? Did Carter Gordon play??

BBC 16A missing 9 players from their starting 15A team last year due to a number of reasons (1st XV, injury and a 'no longer at school').

1st XV missing Carter and Matt Stirling.

In regards to 16A's, I think Gt were missing a few as well with injuries and boys in the first XV. Schools with strong depth overcome these hurdles and continue to dominate. (Nudgee, TSS)

When regular season rolls around I would expect another 40 - 50 point performance from BBC over GT at the 16A level as it was last year in 15A's

16B's should get up comfortably as well

16A's a two horse race between BBC and Nudgee this year - Nudgee pretty much keeping their team in tact from last year

Same in 16B's too
