QLD GPS Rugby 2019

I was looking at what they play the year before and where they are capable. Kelly played 6 for QLD didn't he? Tuimavave played 8 the year before for QLD. Condon is an 8 more than a 6/7 and Titi, whilst a lock for NC last year could be 8 where he played in the u15 MetNorth trials before switching to 12.

What's your thought?

Hmmm spending my Australia Day morning putting pen to paper with tss. Other than 3 players I am stuck. Nudge and bbc team sheet is full. Ippy and terrace half complete. Using what I know of last year’s u16 team and returning open players then tss may not be a big threat. Unless there is a surge of u15 players that I am not familiar with or a big number of new recruits at tss, I see the nudge, bbc and ippy being our top 3. Just saying.

I hear Izi Sword is the front runner for #8 at Churchie, having played out of position at outside centre in 2018. Jock MacPherson has been terrorising the 15As comp this year so may be a handy choice in the position too.

Nudgee lock Titi Nofoagatotoa would fit very comfortably into the shoes of Bailey Tautau, who joins Campbell Parata at the Crusaders next year.

GarryOwens' Wian Joubert shout is a good one. He played all three backrow positions and both centres I believe over the course of 2018. Eight might prove his best position. Alapati So'oalo led the competition in average tackle busts per game in 2018 (five) despite only registering cameo appearances. If he's back he could be excellent

Jack Kelly should reprise his role at #8 for BBC.

I'm excited to see some of these new names mentioned that I'm not yet familiar with!

That’s the thing King ..all of the boys mentioned over the last page and a bit have been multi-positional players as they’ve been coming through . A lot of versatility on show which sort of underscores the point that they are Rugby players first and foremost but it’s their versatility / adaptability I would imagine would be appreciated by some Coaches
Yes, versatility is the key,one must be open to positional change at this age.

Curious call considering that not one of them played in that position for their school teams last year and you’ve left out the only U16 player that actually played in that position for his school First XV - Jack Kelly from BBC

But of course you know that don’t you ?

Thanks for dropping by

Multi-positional players are a coach's dream.

Well, there has been a lot of talk about the playmakers, let’s move on to the back row.

Nudgee seem to have some great depth around the 5-8 range with a bunch of boys who can play multiple positions. Keeping in mind so do BBC.

Will be interesting to see how the BSHS 5-8 positions shape out with a few returning boys from the 1sts and a couple looseys from the 2018 u16s team coming through (#7 and #8).

Seems to be a lot of depth in most teams around these positions.

GT’s likely backrow all saw some time playing First XV last year .

Louis Jorgensen would be the front runner for 7 after playing a full season last year at 6/7.

Charlie Condon and Emarly Bitongue will most like fill the 6/8 spots. EB was building well into 6/4 last year after moving from 12 before a broken hand finished his season. He is only in grade 11 this year , looking forward to seeing his progression over the next 2 years . Also think CC will be better off for his exposure to a few games last year.

Agree Nomad. Jorgensen is the specialist 7 and they are thin on the ground.
And you're right about Condon at 8 where he can do some damage.
Emarly is a 6 and a good defender so also looking forward to seeing the development.
That back row looks to be the most mobile and terrier like in the GPS, probably challenged by BSHS?
You are correct. The 2018 experience will help.

[ED - agreed, have deleted original post and given warning to poster]

Poor form to name names like that and “ one shouldn’t throw stones in glass houses “

Matt Patterson should be in the mix somewhere in the Churchie pack and has always been one of the stronger lineout exponents of his age group ( notably defensive lineout ). Churchie should be boosted with Larsen Dale -Doyle - a new lock / back row utility from
Emmaus College in Rockhampton ( that also was the origination point for BBC’s Prynce Romeo Taguelli ( 2017 ) and Jack Howarth (Current)

Very dependant on what the new Churchie coach wants but Adien King could be a very good 7 if there is an alternate No2 in the squad.

There are a lot of ill-disciplined kids lacking in skills in the age group, whose only contribution is their size.Surely naming kids (and that is what they are)unless praising them is very poor?.
