It feels like a long time since the last east tigers GF win.

Besides the east win that afternoon , The last things I heard over the Balleymore PA was. " do not run on the field at full time siren" YEP no one listened.. Classic moment watching everyone full bore coming down the hill jumping the fence onto the field.....

Hopefully the boys will be hanging from the clubhouse rafters with another win.

Pat O'Connor has been named at lock to replace the suspended Gorman for GPS. I think this is a good move by GPS as their lineout was really exposed at times on the weekend, even resulting with one of East's tries. They could have moved Donaldson (a backrower) into the second row and started either Stower, McMahon or Fainga'a but they must have realised that it was against University a few weeks ago that the forward pack seemed to struggle a bit playing without recognised second rowers as they missed that height advantage in set pieces.

Frisby needs to have a big game for the Gallopers if they are going to win. Some of his game changing 50/50 plays haven't really paid off in recent weeks so it will be interesting to see what approach he takes to this very structured Uni side.

Was good to see so many Super Rugby players at Ballymore on Sunday cheering on their club teams. Ed Quirk ran the water for Easts, Bryce Hegarty the same for GPS. Saw Ian Prior and Jono Lance watching University and Anthony Fainga'a watching GPS.

One thing I like about the Reds, most of them stay connected to their club sides.

I agree tigerland12, it's good to see. I have come to realise that nearly all of them bag the shit out of Brothers on twitter, with hashtags like #KilltheFilth and #AnyonebuttheFilth.

I'm tipping an Easts vs University final, with most people wanting easts to win. I imagine the Souths fellas would want Uni to win.

One more thing, we talk about the top 5 players for the Alec Evans Medal, why your 7 for easts isn't in the running I'll never know. I've watched three Easts games this year and he has been the best forward on the field by a mile.

Yep, Uni are the lesser of the
three evils left ;-)

I reckon they'll take it out to,seem to be peaking at the right time.

Penguin - I find it unusual that a Souths bloke would pump for GPS/Uni over Easts, given the historic ties between Easts & Souths - where often mates play for each club. There are a lot of personal friendships that lie across these two great south side clubs.

Easts & Souths have been historic allies off the field against the clubs like Bros/Uni/GPS/Snbnk who suffer from "superiority complex", and yet fierce local enemies.

Dan Crowley (whose son now plays juniors at Easts) once said that the Easts/Souths rivalry was a bit like Aus/NZ in that they both hated each other but they both hated England (Brothers) more.

I think you will find Mr."Filth" that despite your endeavours to turn the Magpies on their local rivals, that most who frequent Chipsy Wood would rather see the Tigers over either GPS/Uni.

Having said that it was great to see Souths go so deep into this season - Ken Wills & Stevie Kef did a great job last year and Michael Broad/Kef took that to another level this year - they would have been very dangerous if they'd made the top 4 and I will be very surprised if they aren't in or around the top 4 next year.

Brothers & Sunnybank will rebound from their 2013 efforts so it will be tough to get to the top 4 next year with this year's top 6 and then Wests don't have to change much to be a contender - they just need to have a good injury run and so more consistency. Norths are also a side that are better than they are given credit for. We haven't even finished 2013 and I'm excited about 2014.

10 more sleeps to grand final day - Easts/Easts/Easts/Easts

Enough "Anti-others" it wouldn't be the same without all of our personal allegiances, I think it just fantastic that there are so many great rugby clubs in Brisbane that all have very passionate supporters.

Having said what I did in my last post, I think that generally there is genuine respect between the clubs and know that it is cyclical - Wests, Breakers & Stingrays have all tasted premierships or grand finals in the last ten years.

With that said what is the feeling with GPS v Uni?

I note that GPS have endeavoured to remedy their set piece by bringing in a specialist lock this weekend. Will Samu start at #13 this week?

I think Samu would win a battle with (2008 Easts GF #13) Herman Porter if HP starts in the Uni#13 - there seemed to be a bit of a passage through the 10-12-13 channel that Brothers capitalised on in the second half last week.

Good luck to both clubs I hope it is a very tightly contested rugged battle.

I drove pass Crosby field yesterday and I felt dirty just doing that.

He is hoping for Another tigers premiships for the wall, if GPS get through it will be cracker game. GPS will be out for blood.

Bumed I can't get to this weekends semi, it to will be a good game.

A few Wallabies squad members given leave this week to play for their club sides. Apparently Saia Fainga'a was hoping to be eligible for GPS but considering the lack of fit hookers at the moment Link has told him to take the week off as a precaution. Would have helped out immensly with GPS scrum and lineouts.

Samu looks set to start at 13 on the weekend, not sure if hes 100% fit or more out of desperation as I think the coaches realise they left him on the pine a bit too long last weekend. Couldn't really tell from last night but Aussie 7s Sean McMahon may also be starting at flanker.

Will Morahan be playing this weekend for Uni? How come Lance hasn't taken the field, is he already down in NSW? Even without those fellas the core of the Uni team is very solid.

There are team lists for Sunday in the centre section of today's Courier Mail but these were probably given to the QRU early in the week and will be subject to change.

Are Morahan/Lance/Parker/Owen all injured?

Has O'Gorman (GPS#5) fronted judiciary yet? I know he would immediately miss this week and then usual have to front judiciary (if he has a case to answer) on the following Monday - surely won't be cleared for GF if GPS get through this weekend.

Who has been left out to bring McMahon in? How many games has he played for GPS this year - I am just interested to know how many games of 15s he's played since he left school - I dare say no more than a handful. I don't think he received a GPS cap in 2012.

I know that Shannon Walker's one game for Easts in 2012 was the first of 15s he had played since coming over to Rugby - I don't think he's played a game of 15s since.

Bret Gillespie? Really?

No offence to Bret, he's a top player, but that is a fucking joke.

By putting "No Offence" before saying that still makes your comment highly offensive. You my friend have just made an extremely rude comment. You should be ashamed to bring an individual down like that with such a remark because in your opinion it should have gone to someone else. Talk about bickering between clubs, that's another step back from the Easts Corner. Well done mate.

Brett Gillespie well done mate. Well deserved.

Tigers Tale from what ive heard Gorman has a hearing coming up early next week so will obviously miss the game vs Uni and then will be handed a further suspension if needed after the hearing.

I don't think McMahon played any games for GPS in 2012. If what the training squads looked like is correct then Mark Donaldson may be missing out in favour of McMahon this weekend. Again, not entirely sure as the teams of training were constantly changing combinations, probably won't know until run on time Sunday.

Get on the defensive mate, sheesh.

Samu Kerevi has been the stand out by a long way this season, and I think most of us will agree that he deserved it.

And I genuinely meant no offence, he's a quality player, but I don't think anyone would place him above Kerevi (or Brandon and Greene for that matter) based on this seasons performances.

Bit of an over reaction your behalf mate.

I think tigerland12 is right, however, it was stated rather bluntly.

Brett Gillespie is a great player and he did play for the Filth, making the premiership winning backline awesome. I honestly think Gunn or Brandon should have got it simply because Easts are in the final (unfortunately) and they wouldn't be in the position if it wasn't for those two fellas. BUT! Due to Gillespie missing out on the medal for about 5 years where he should have won...it is simply just deserts, so well done to him.

I agree with Mr Stalwart.

There are ways of saying you have a different opinion to the judges who decided the award. Those judges were the only ones whose opinion count for this year's award. They didn't agree with you, for whatever reason. But they have that right.

You chose really regrettable words and further compound it by trying to justify what you did.

Following this thread there is a disturbing appearance that the supporters of the blue and gold want to dictate who should win the awards, who souths supporters should barrack for when their team is eliminated... and are pretty vocal in their intense dislike for the dragons, the filth, the students and the gallopers. I am grateful that I don't associate with people like that.

Don't worry Flash Flanker, you have the ability to belt the cocky wee Easts is the final, that's of course if you knock off the high-flying Gallopers.
