Queensland Reds 2026

Watching last nights game I think the Wallabies need to pick Potter and Daugunu on the wings with Jorgo as an impact player for the last 20-25 mins.

The side needs experienced bigger bodies out there to stop the meters. Jorgo is a good defender but can be a good asset off the bench with his speed and magic. Anderson is no mug but van der Merwe was shoving him around. Can't be starting Kellaway who is a well rounded player but not a dominant presence. Wobs will need JAS, Daugunu, Potter to do some bash up work for guys like Len and Wright to be crafty.

- Sorry meant to post on the Wallabies thread and got mixed up.
Yeah I’d say that Anderson missing that tackle on their winger when we had them pinned in the corner was where someone like daungunu comes in. He simply wouldn’t have missed.

The exits were the thing that killed the reds. Probably would helped to have lynagh there but it didn’t look like we even had lifters on the restart. Perhaps due to the wind? Some of the lions exits weren’t great either.
Reds missed far too many tackles and we looked rusty not playing for what 4 weeks?

Last night was my first time back from os watching a live rugby game for 4 years. What has happened to the crowd atmosphere at Suncorp?
Reds got some momentum is the first 20 minutes mainly because of Paisami breaking the line and connecting with his outside backs. Reds missing size in the backline and should be looking to get Jordan Petaia when he is available. I thought the lads up front were good considering some key Wallabies out. Joe Brial looks like he will be a solid player and likewise Josh Canham. Lukhan a good 40 minute player and still dominate but last night wasn't supported. Reds needing to find a decent experienced flyhalf to work with young Lynagh. The kid last night is not suited to the role and his limited kicking that I have seen this season rules out a move to fullback. I see some comments about Pasitoa and Brury and maybe with the right coaching that's an option if the price is right. I'd even look at Meredith from the Brumbies. JOC (James O'Connor) probably let go a couple of years too early.

On TV sounded like the atmosphere was pretty good for the first 30 minutes and when it became a precession it disappeared. I imagine that would happen in any stadium where the "away" team is belting the home team.

The Lions supporters not overly enthusiastic either. Must admit my brother didn't get us great seats and we were surrounded by spectators and not diehard fans. Just started watching the replay and the crowd support after the first Red's try is better in the broadcast.

I don’t think the Reds/Suncorp do a very good job of hyping up the crowd. They need to let something more organic form as opposed to constantly begging for crowd engagement. (Brisbane) Lions matches at the Gabba are way more fun (allowing for the fact that it’s a shit sport). Play more good music in the breaks, spend some money on better highlight vids, and most importantly, play well.

The announcers last night are not professional voice actors, far from it.

The test games will need to lift the standard for the cost of seats.

I will not hear a single bad word said about the stadium DJ for Reds games. They play wall to wall bangers and if you don't like it that's a you problem.

I do agree there's plenty of work to be done on the match day experience though, it really should be a focus for all our super sides to help bring the crowds back.

As others have said the biggest issue in our game for spectators at the moment is getting the paying spectators sitting in the stands info on referee decisions. It's just so much better watching at home. That has to be improved.

One of the reasons Angua Gardner is so good is he is excellent at this. Other refs still need a lot of training

Many of the newer grounds really lean into lighting and the ability to rapidly change it and it does add an impact. Use to be a indoor venue only thing but places like the SFS now are really good. Not as much on the Reds but more the Stadium spending on upgrades.

Aaaah I’m sure they never thought of that. You do realise it’s pretty difficult to muscle up against the Lions.
Sorry mate let me rephrase so that I don’t offend Reds fans.

we tried really hard last night, even when the Lions ran in their 50th try.

I’m too honest for this thread.
