Queensland Reds 2026

Those guys will never play for the Reds again. They walked out on the Reds at one of their most critical moments and deserve nothing but contempt.
They are professionals and left to ensure they got money while they can, I didn't have an issue with it as it was for their future.

I have issues with us happily accepting LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) back after he left for Melbourne.

The difference is that Salakai-Loto left due to a clash with Thorn while the other two left when everyone else made sacrifices to support the team and rugby generally. Which they were perfectly entitled to do but there were certainly stories at the time that a lot of the other player’s thoughts mirrored Sully’s sentiment. How true that is and whether those feelings linger I have no idea.

There is a culture thing here. I'm stuffed if I can follow it. But that doesn't matter. They can't come back if there is that sort of undertone. I'd love it, but no. Can't happen.

Time does heal a lot of wounds too though. Who knows. And a lot of guys have moved on and others have probably matured and become more circumspect.

But I think the biggest issue may well be that by all accounts Hockings is in line to be capped for Japan and unless Lucas is either home sick or decides he wants chase gold instead of $ than I can’t imagine either are even entertaining the idea of coming back.

You cannot rebuild a club successfully by cutting corners on culture.

I don’t think anyone is suggesting they should.

But I’d hate to think I would be judged forevermore on decisions I made when I was 21.

James O’Connor did far worse and, from all accounts, he was a very positive influence on player culture in the last couple of years.

As an aside, the Reds have to improve in some areas. They don’t need to rebuild. And form the outside it appears that through the efforts of Thorn followed on by Kiss club culture is excellent. I’m sure Kiss has no intention of compromising on that.

Watched them closely this year. No real improvements.

You didn't see a great culture where players are happy and signing long term contracts?
A team, that was struck deeply with injuries but had fringe players step up and take their chances with both hands, providing experience to young players and building depth?
A few small things and the season could have been much different. But coulda, shoulda, woulda...
However your initial remark was about poor culture and rebuilding. That's just pure crap.
If you are indeed a Tah supporter as has been alluded to, I suggest you're reflecting the mirror from that organisation.

Fellas, they crashed out week 1 of the finals and faded out from being front runners two months ago. They didn’t win enough big moments and when it gets hard, the kiwi sides as well as the Brumbies have another gear to go to. The lack of improvement is there for everyone to see. Stop taking things so personally, the cheap shots back are getting a bit old. I want a strong Queensland, we all do.
