Bloody hell, another season without an afternoon game.

The Reds have some big back to back kms; Round 6 in Fiji then next week in Wellington. Round 14 is in Perth and the following weekend is in Auckland.

Edit - 4 Sat night games on FTA will please the sponsors. My presumption is remainder being Friday night games is because NRL has the stadium booked

It's something a lot of fans would like. Every other team seems to get one or two arvo games.

I would like to take one of my kids to the rugby. 6:30 and 7:30pm don't work considering their asleep by 8pm.

There's plenty fo afternoon games the Reds are playing in other locations so it's a tad disappointing we can't do something similar here.

I agree that there could be a few more afternoon games in Aus, but the reason we all play afternoon games in NZ is to allow those games to be broadcast at NZ peak time. Similar for games in Fiji. Not sure that STAN would be too happy with a lot of afternoon games in Aus.

It's something a lot of fans would like. Every other team seems to get one or two arvo games.

Daylight savings/tail end of summer weather is an issue there, there's a decent chunk of the season where it's just not feasible to play afternoon games in Queensland.

Beyond that it's pretty variable as to whether or not it's good for the fans - once club season has started it's a problem, at least on Saturdays, and Sundays are much rarer now with no more than 5 games a weekend.

I think the Australian teams are becoming quite even, I think splitting a home win and an away loss for all Aussie derbies is a real chance. We need to get home bonus point wins and away bonus point losses to succeed.
