Queensland Reds 2026

Shame for Hodgman and Vest, also Fa’agase what a stalwart. Real workman of the club.

Certainly felt Craig was at a point where he needed to step up a bit, been in the program a few years now. I don’t live Fourie as an option, too much off the ball stuff and loose passes, but he is good depth and mature.

Be interesting to see where they go from here, a few vacancies and no clear club players ready to take LHP or Lock vacancies.

Reds might go the budget option and promote guys like Harrison Usher from club, but King will likely get a position first and maybe JTA (Jeffery Toomaga-Allen) will be reserve LHP if required.

I reckon Bloomfield strikes me as more of a LHP with his mobility.
Macarius Pereria is playing academy football in France. Wonder if the Reds could entice him back early seeing as he's probably got more of a shot playing SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) as opposed to Top 14. Not a season pro by any means.

I know this is the Reds thread - but do we think the departure of Wright elevates Cale up the Wallabies pecking order??

Not really, neither have been on the field anywhere near enough the past year to really have a set place in the pecking order. There's also been a lot more changeover in the space than just Wright - Leota, Gleeson and Hooper going (but Hooper at least will likely still be in the frame) Samu returning, CdC emerging, and even just a bunch of players like Uru, Brial, Talataina and Tualima getting another year under their belt while Cale was on the sideline. Until he's back in the field none of the other moves make much difference.

We're now real light on in the LHP department.
I wonder if the Reds will try to convert a THP to a LHP with the ability to switch sides?

I think it would be beneficial to have both Zane Nonggorr and Massimo De Lutiis on the field at the same time in the future. I wonder if one would consider being switched for the good of the team.

Zane is only 24 and Massimo is 21 so a long-term pairing is quite tempting.

I would think it’s more realistic to get JTA (Jeffery Toomaga-Allen) to swap to the other side for the short term. He’s done a bit of it. Ideally, we want Zane and Mass to be the 2 incumbent THPs anyways. Theres King who’s developing but seems more comfortable at 3 and Bloomfield who’s also only played tight head but I reckon has the mobility to play loose head. But I’m no front row expert. Crazy that we’ve lost 3 loosies in like 6months. Ideally, we would pick up a veteran that could go around for at least another year. I’m not sure of any that come to mind.

Sef Fa’gase isn’t retiring yeah? They must have confidence that Harrison Usher can at least do as good a job as him.
