generalising anyone who doesn’t like love the idea of American pickup trucks on inner city roads as a boomer is dumb. Not to mention contrary to the reality demographics in which EV uptake has being more prevalent (hint, it’s not ‘boomers’).

Even putting aside opinions on climate change, I don’t like American pickup trucks on inner city like Herston because the old roads/parking isn’t wide enough for them, and 90% of people driving them don’t functionally need one that large. Not to mention the increased safety risk from increased breaking distance and reduced sight lines.

I say all this as someone’s whose family has a farm and has had an F-Truck for farm work, maybe hypocritical but that’s where they have a role and purpose.

It’s just a joking statement.

A deal with Ford and vehicles of this size is really just a luxury car sponsorship given their price which is fairly on brand for Rugby.

I’d only have an issue if they were signing up for a deal like the Roosters did with BYD who are a financial vector for the CCP.

Ford are in the business of selling Rangers and Everests, especially the new Ranger Super Duty. I’m sure the Rugby demographic are very much in their target audience.

The best thing environmentally is to keep your vehicle as long as you can. The environmental cost of the vehicle dwarfs the fuel it uses.

We just bought a Volvo XC60, there are no charging points in our building. Some people have hybrids, but I believe that the additional weight of the battery needs to be considered.

Any global brands getting involved in Rugby is a good thing. They tend to stick around a sport longer than the smaller companies who are a bit more aware of the $.

QRU staff around the state will be behind the wheels of a fleet of F-150 vehicles. Reds and Community Rugby operational staff will also be able to transport equipment with ease in Reds-branded Transit Vans.

Doubtful it will be ‘most’, QRU really doesn’t have many staff outside of Brisbane. Maybe one to Darling Downs, CQ, GC and FNQ each. The remainder of staff, including development officers are based out of Ballymore.

anyway positive news of a new sponsorship, regardless of whether people like US pickup trucks or not. My comment wasn’t even about EV’s, just that other Ford models like Ranger & Everest cop much less criticism/social media focus about their size on roads.

Westpoint Auto don't have Ford therefore I'd say that sponsorship is dead in the water (previously the shorts sponsor - but I'd imagine that would be on a contra type deal based on vehicles supplied).

Reds made a post yesterday thanking them for their sponsorship over the years and said it had finished. So yes, that sponsorship is done.

I'd say it is more of a QLD play as Ford Australia did a deal with the QRL last year (for 4 years).

One positive of the size and colour of those Beasts is people will definitely notice them and therefore notice the Reds logo. Don't think anyone will hold it against the Reds for it.

An interview by Kiss in the Couriermail today, all very generic responses, but he was questioned about the fly-half situation. And i guess this reflects what most people have said about them playing 10,12 or 15.

“If you looked at Harry McLaughlin-Phillips, how he’s been training this pre-season, he’s been on fire too, in all honesty, if I was picking a team in the pre-season, Harry would be the first 10 at this stage,” Kiss said. “And I know Carter has been injured but he’s been around, Tom’s trained for most of it.

“Ben Volavola has had a bit of an injury, so he’s been resting. “It seems like we’ve got 10s coming out of our ears. The truth is, I think each of them can play two positions at least. That’s a big plus. And each of them will give the certain qualities that we need. “No. 15 and 12, and 10 are the three positions we want to make sure that we have really good, solid covering. And that’s important to us. And each of them can provide that.”

I'm not fully onboard the eco bandwagon but isn't there some Aussie company that rolls out electric F-150s now? Boss EV or something and the trucks are called F150-Lightnings.

Will be announced today Ford Australia have signed as a major partner, which comes with a fleet of 12 Reds branded F150 trucks.

Good they’ve got a new sponsor, not sure the F150s are the best choice/look though.

I had my car in at Westpoint Autos today for another warranty repair and they still had up all of their Reds signs.

I wish they would use different types of vehicles, I want Props and 2nd Rowers in F150's, back rowers in Rangers and the backs in little hatchbacks. Different body sizes and shapes are what makes the game great and could make Ford great too.

I re-watched a few of the games in the weekend and must admit McLaughlin-Philips played a lot better than I remembered him playing. Very sharp in attack. It’ll be an interesting year.
