Not sure where to put this but here it goes.

From Sunday, 9 October to Sunday, 13 November, the most promising young male Rugby players in the country will represent their Super Rugby Pacific clubs and go head-to-head in the National U16 and U19 Rugby Championships.

Until 2019, this competition was only run over one week - to develop the professional experiences of players it now follows a five-week doubleheader format that helps clubs build more deeply engrained cultures right throughout their junior development pathways.

This championship is an imperative part of the Australian pathway programs as it opens avenues for the best young stars across the country to make as strong a case as possible for advancement towards full-time professional Super Rugby Pacific squads.

Nathan Grey, the High-Performance National Programs Coach, will select a preliminary 2023 Junior Wallabies squad from the U19s championship and an U16s select team. He says this championship will showcase some of the brightest young talents in the country.

"With COVID-19 restricting a lot of the development opportunities for young players, this five-week period will be the perfect chance to identify talent, and see how they handle the travel and preparatory demands of high-performance sport."

"These are our future Super Rugby Pacific players and possibly Wallabies – it is a really exciting opportunity for Rugby Australia to highlight the pathways for these kids and keep them engaged in their Rugby journey."

Every match of the National U16 and U19 Rugby Championships will be broadcast on Stan Sport – ensuring fans will have every opportunity to see the exciting skill on display.

Rugby Australia has selected a 25-man Australian Schools and U18s squad following the recent Super Rugby Academy games in Canberra.

Head coach Shannon Fraser will take charge of the side against an Australian Barbarians group in the nation’s capital this Sunday 2 October at 11am, with the clash being livestreamed on rugby.com.au.

The squad, which features talent from all-five Australian Super Rugby Pacific clubs, has assembled at the Australian Institute of Sport for a week-long camp ahead of Sunday’s fixture.

A number of players were considered but unavailable for selection, including St. Joseph’s College fullback Max Jorgensen who will travel with Australia A for their tour of Japan.

Rugby Australia General Manager, National High-Performance Programs, Adrian Thompson said: “It’s fantastic to have assembled an exciting group here in Canberra after some great games over the weekend.”

“It’s an exciting time for our Pathways programs with a refreshed U16 and U19 National competition now in place for October, and the camp this week for our Australian Schools and U18s leading into the Barbarians game is an important part of our development strategy across the country.

“Shannon Fraser will lead a full program for the group this week, supported by ACT Brumbies Academy head coach Daniel Hooper, and our Elite Programs coach Nic Henderson, with a focus on developing the players both on and off the field.”

that team is obviously different from the purely schoolboys team chosen by the ASRU and currently touring Japan

I am hopeful that this is a RA initiative as they have been without a clue for a long time. Maybe Dave Rennie suggested it?

The team touring Japan is Australia A Schoolboys. From QLD's perspective its players not part of Academy set ups chosen, and those who played in the Under 18 State Championships in May (Met East, Met West, Met North, South Coast, etc)

Great start.

This years U20s looked under done in comparison to NZ and Argentina. The more footy the better. Especially with a lot of the players coming from the Private School System having a relatively short season.
I’d actually like to see a rep team picked from the u19 championships and go on tour straight after in preparation for the u20 worlds the following year.

Building combinations and cohesion early on would put them a step ahead.

I'd like to see a full u/20's RC with Japan & Fiji & as well as a full Womens RC just like the 6N have.
