The Rugby World Cup starts in 81 days!

Initial test squads for the year are starting to be announced and we've got proper test matches commencing next month.

It's time to move on from the qualifying thread to the real deal.

It's also time for @Dismal Pillock Pillock to schedule in the games he is watching at @cyclopath's house.

This is going to take some time.

I need to think.

Wallabies (pool C) can only play England (D) in a quarter final or the final because the winners of those respective Pool C&D QFs in Marseilles don't play each other in Semis. They play the respective winners of the A and B pool Quarter Finals.

And the losers of all those QFs go home.

Another thing to note

Quarter Finals are on Saturday and Sunday - Marseille games early and Paris later on each night.
Whereas Semi Finals are on Friday and Saturday. 9pm kick off Paris.
Bronze medal is Friday and Final is Saturday.

If Wallabies win pool C and win their QF on 14 October, they have a 6 day turnaround before Semi on 20th Oct.
Their opponents will be from the other 14 October QF game and also have a 6 day turnaround.
If they can win their Semi Final, they have an 8 day break before Final.
A small advantage at a long tournament.

The RWC is certainly starting with a monster match - France V's NZ immediately after the opening ceremony.
LOL@NZ. Get globally humiliated to the tune of 40 or 50 in opening match then Fozzie's fosburied flops quickly eliminated from tourney in their very next hard match vs Ireland or the boks.

Never understood the love for RSA. Their win percentage isn’t great in recent years and although a World Cup win is a great achievement they managed it by beating t2 teams, an injury ravaged Wales and a good England team. I think they are better than Aus, but are closer to Aus standard than Fra, Ire and NZ. They have to play too many good teams this time round to achieve success and they aren’t capable of winning back to back to back games against quality opposition
