RWC 2027 Australia

I disagree I think this is a good draw. We are actually better off losing to NZ and finishing second than finishing top.

You need to be playing against a strong team by the time you get to a quarter final otherwise you will be underdone.

Eg springboks could be going in to a quarter against NZ without being challenged at all

We either play the best team or on form the second best team in the QF it’s not a good draw

We were always going to get through the rd 16, Who we draw in the QF is more important and it’s either the best or second best team after a pool game against a side we never win against we really need a successful campaign to make the most of this home WC and help revive the team and the game in Aus and this draw makes it hard to go deep. England, France, Argentina and Ireland seem to be the winners of this draw

Honest truth, I think we make too much of pool who we all play in pool matches. I read shock horror IF ABs beat we will probably meet SA in QF's? Same as Aus if they win that game, whoever wins the bloody thing (if it's not the Boks) has got a good chance of having to play them sometime!

Of more importance than our Band 1 opponent was not getting a potential banana skin Band 3 opponent such as Georgia or USA.

Chile also lost to the Netherlands last year, so they might have pushed Italy but this also isn't a banana skin game either.
Italy beat us. The Italy side Chile played featured a number of the same players that we faced. Chile were missing a few of their regular starters due to 'injury' while playing for their clubs. While we should win that game comfortably we have shown that we are very capable of making it difficult for ourselves.to the point that if we run out a 2nd string squad expecting the win it could bite us. It's not likely. But not beyond impossible. Losing to HK. Now that is impossible.

NZ and SA likely play each other in the QF - how can 1 and 2 meet each other that early

With 6 pools, assuming all 6 pool winners make the quarter finals, two of the quarter finals have to be pool winner vs pool winner so it does just boil down to luck of the draw.

There's some excellent conspiracy throeries about a rigged draw going around social media if you're into that sort of stuff!

Brett Robinson looking directly into the jar and plucking England out on command. That sort of stuff

Would be good if we could actually put a score on HK though

hmm I think England, on current form (so anything can change in two years) are probably in the top 3 hardest teams. We'll know a lot more after this 6N though. I'd rather face them later in the comp than QFs but still prefer the half of the draw we're on.

I'd prefer to be Ireland or Argentina I think. But they face England anyway.
