In regards to that post from 2021 you're replying to, the host cities and venues were announced earlier in the year...

Give him a moment, he's just reading the posts from 2022 on page 10.
It's all good traffic for Gagger. If I can post something, I post it. I'm glad one or two posters enjoy picking some nits.

It was too late for the Sydney Morning Herald to print it (yet apparently not too late for The Australian) is an odd thing to mention given people reading news on paper is very much on the way out and the author himself notes it was scheduled with people watching it in mind.

I can’t recall any previous RWC draws to be honest. Nor can I recall any previous Soccer, Cricket, rugba league or Netball ones. Yeah, they could have gone to the expense and all the fanfare about it but it still would have just been the 9 of us here that watched it. And of course Trumpy was going to make a big deal about the FIFA one.

Christy was probably upset the SMH didn’t publish a story he could plagiarise, again… and so had to resort to this flailing manufactured outrage for some click bait which doesn’t present a single genuinely weighted piece of criticism.

It reads like it was smashed out on the keyboard after more than a few cans at 2am…

Stick to the player gossip Christy, and leave real journalism to people who can construct a coherent paragraph.

Slim. The great rugby guru.

Should I assume you don't like him?

When I've heard him on various podcasts, it seems as if there's a decent rugby brain between the lug holes. I'm a bit like Slim - not a fan of his writing, but some of his opinions are valid, my personal take is his writing tries too hard.

This is my issue with Christy's article. He's acting like Rugby Australia missed out on making this a major event. It's just not. It's boring and almost nothing is added by watching it live versus waiting 20 minutes to see a picture with the result.

Somewhat similar to complaints about the Wallabies not shifting their schedule to name teams during Australian business hours when they are playing in Europe or South Africa. Sure, you don't get to see the team until you wake up the next morning but it's not like the Thursday lunchtime team naming for a test when we're at home attracts significant attention. It's a teamlist for fuck's sake.

I don't like his writing...

Him, personally... he's probably a swell guy.
Not sure we have a great rugby journalist. Malcolm Knox from the SMH is a great sports writer but doesn't specialise in rugby unfortunately. Spiro Zavos was pretty good. Who else do you remember as great rugby writers? Gordon Bray was by far the best caller.

At least there’s someone covering rugby not behind a paywall and making team and signing leaks

every former/casual rugby fan I’ve talked too has said they can’t find anything on rugby

The team list would be an issue if more people followed the game
