Parra are down playing Queanbeyan in Colts and grade today.
Updates are, Parra won 1st Colts 28-0 and are currently leading 2nd Grade 38-0 at halftime.

there were lower grade colts and another lower grade game played as well but I haven't been sent those scores yet.
Parra took 3 grade and 2 colts sides to David Campese Oval today. Comfortable wins in Colts 1 and second grade. Parra got up in a scrappy 3rd grade but lost Colts 2. First Grade was a cracker with Parra racing away to an early lead but were hunted down by a good Queanbeyan team who led 26-24 at the break. Parra put on another 24 points and the Whites 12 so Parra ran out victors in a highly entertaining game. Speaking of entertainment a huge thanks the the great people at Queanbeyan for the food for all the boys after the day at a good old fashioned aftermatch function. For many of our Colts it was their first bus trip and experience of Rugby hospitality. They loved it. Congratulations to everyone from Queanbeyan and Parramatta for a wonderful Rugby Day.

Ryan09 that is what footy is all about IMHO. Great to hear these sort of stories.

sidelinesid, was that David Horwitz who broke his leg - Young kid out of Scots College last year, & playing ARU Academy (Sydney branch)? The Tahs seem to have their eye on this kid. He was at much of Tahs pre-season training apparently.

Ron Walden (29)
Gordon 3s and 4s had convincing wins (10+ tries to nil) in each game over Warringah. I think I'll quit now - perfect coaching record ;)

Re the randwick number 10

Interested to see Lachie Turner on the wing for the Woods yesterday - surprised he didn't run in centres. Woodies accounted for a largely second grade Manly . Not sure who the Woods have to come back other than Alcock - appreciate hearing some news on that front. Manly will be a much different team come the comp rounds.

Interesting that today he was referred to as "Injured Waratahs Winger"

Especially as young Kingston got a run and showed some real pace and penetration whereas Betham bumbled through the game before being replaced. Turner might get the call again, who knows how the selectors think, a case of the revolving door in many positions from prop to winger.

Any news from the other trials? I understand Uni seconds accounted for Souths and Penrith firsts and their firsts dusted Qld Uni in the opener on Sunday?

Eastwood won all four grades. 4 tries to nil in firsts.

Eastwood team was pretty much the starting team for the comp. but have the following first grade players to come back at various stages (depending on wallaby selection etc) and so the coach is going to have a few headaches re: selections at some stage:

Super 15 or Sevens
Chris Alcock
Lachie McCaffery
Stanard
Snowy
Nick White
Ben RObbo
Ben Alexanda?
FItzpatrick?

Others
PIerre Holla
Ben Coridas ?
Nick Batger
Jed GIllespie
Hugh Roach
Steve Cummins
Cam Mitchell
Tim Williams

A badly busted leg in a trial, particularly for a young up and comer in their first gig, is awful, and sounds like they may miss a large chunk of the season.

Hoping it is not as bad as it sounds, and that they have a speedy recovery.

I have no scientific basis for this view but is this another indicator that we "rush" some players with still growing bodies into Senior Grade rugby and pit them against "hardened" men.

No suggestion that the younger ones are specifically targeted, just that the consequences of accidentally bad collisions in Senior rugby seem to be worse than they are in Open age Schoolboy rugby, even though many of the fatties in Schoolboy rugby weigh the same as those in Grade (and exceed this in some cases).

Bugger?. Would the same apply to the guys at the western force?
No it wouldn't - this was a chestnut last year for Manly with 6 players impacted in particular around Michael Hooper - George Smith running out on the Village Green for the Marlins in 2013 would pull an extra 1,000 through the gate but doubt it will happen . Jake White has insisted that Brumby players must play their club footy in the ACT ; no other franchise makes such demands not surprising given they would probably rather have their non core 22 players each week maintain form by competing in the strongest competition . The arguments for and against are well rehearsed on other threads but I think the most compelling against is whether the players are happy about it . Would White and Alexander choose to play in Canberra ? The counter point being they signed a contract didn't they and the enhancement of ACT club rugby.

Don't the Waratahs and Reds also force their players to play in the local club comps?
