Apologies if this has already been discussed (Ive been out of contact) but does anyone think it would have been a good idea to have the SS grand finals as warm up games for the Bledisloe at Homebush today??

Yes, it would have been great to see the first grade final played before the Bledisloe. One game would surely have little effect on the surface, especially after a prolonged period of relatively dry weather.

However, the lower grades would still obviously need to be played elsewhere.

Arrangements would have had to be made to allow reserves to be available for the main game, if one of the first grade grand finalists also had a team in the reserve grade grand final (could have happened for the Woodies this season).

Finally, only people with tickets to the Bled would have been admitted to the ground, ruling out a number of loyal club supporters who either did not want to go to the Bled, or could not afford it.

So it would have been a nice idea, but there are some serious obstacles.

Both Rugby League games on Thursday and Friday night this week at ANZ were not allowed to play other then 1st grade as they were worried about ground damage for tonight's Rugby test.

Good start to the game, but scrappy but to be expected in this weather. Wish the ref would position himself better, been in the way of players passing the ball a good 4-5 times in the first 10 minutes

congrats woodies. defence too god and ayoub had all the right options at 10. Bad luck southern. I had dared to dream that the shire might have a championship team this year but it wasn't to be.

mixed feelings for me. Woodies were my team until I moved to the shire.
