I'm told Parra again lead from the front at their canteen on Good Friday catering for the many people dedicated to their religion by providing Fish Burgers and Fish and Chips for sale and selling out of both.

And they've separated the alcohol from the canteen and are selling it at the old BBQ. What's the idea behind that and how is it working?

We have more people willing to volunteer in the canteen that don't have RSA that do so if we move the alcohol from the canteen we can get the assistance required to run the day smoothly. Though we still need more people.

Food as always fantastic knuckles
I thought the bar worked very well it's quicker to get a colder beer now
Any chance stubbie holders for sale at bar in next few weeks?

Stubby holders are sold out unfortunately.

I'll put our food options and taste up against any club in the comp. But then again I'm biased. All the recipes are my Mrs' recipes!

We need to lift our game in this thread.

Rugby BBQs were elevated to one of the five burning questions of the week on the podcast. I listened to the podcast 210 with great expectations.

Tom Tuderhope's Subbies BBQ reviews on Facebook got a big wrap in the GAGR podcast, and there was no mention whatsoever of Shute Shield BBQs.

Someone isn't listening or watching. Seems that the powers that be are only interested in flash videos and Facebook.

We may need to start taking pictures of the Shute Shield BBQs and start posting reviews on Instagram, YouTube and GAGR Facebook to establish some "credibility".

Enjoyed but somewhat bewildered by Souths' canteen @ Forshaw park. Who doesn't have cheese on a hamburger?
Hamburger essentials: bun, pattie, lettuce, cheese, fried onion, sauce. Extras: pickles, bacon, egg, beetroot (savages only), tomato. In fact, I would argue that double cheese is essential (one slice below, one slice melted on the pattie). I asked about the cheese situation and received death glares.

I must admit that the standards are drastically increasing. Bar one.
Is there no decent butchery or pie shop/bakery on the northern beaches?
A prefab pizza, a prefab snag and plastic wrapped generic pies really turn the crowds on. Not.
Somebody please take them to any other ground to sample the fares of a two blues or a field to fork burger.
Show them what can be please

I assume you're talking about Rat park?
The canteen also sells hot chips & reasonable quality ham salad rolls.
But there is a bbq that you walk past near the front gate, that does bratwurst, pulled pork & other gourmet type rolls.
@ $10 they are not giving them away,but it's a good feed.
And the coffe cart does a good coffee:)

I'm know we have not hosted Brian and his myrtle Green this year, and I'm yet to see Pizza's on the Marlins Menu, so I hope the scathing attack isn't on us.

No problems with Oliver's Pies and the Nomad beer at The Village Green, but offerings from the BBQ hot plate leave a bit to be desired.

Overcooked and dry steak for the steak sambo. Onions were OK, and the snags ( not tried) did not look all that appetising. Maybe a bad hair day at the BBQ'. Hope that is not the standard. In their favour was the fact that the hot plate was manned by volunteers and not professional chefs (looking at you Beasts & The Corporation).

Actually, yesterday was the first time at Coogee Oval to watch the rugby. ( Yep, need to get out more)
We had the chicken burger and a bacon and egg roll. Devoured the burger and got the last morsels of the e&b roll. As good as anywhere .
Thankfully all was well digested before we got to 1st grade.

Yes. If the chips are hot, good. Unfortunately the chips Junior Westlake got weren't. By a long way. The only meat that was on offer was sausage of a supermarket variety by the look of it, but I agree the coffe was nice

Stands

Probably the first $20 Hamburger at the Shute Shield made an appearance at Rat Park on Saturday!

Good burger but at $20 (and with no signage advertising the price) with approx. 1,500 people sitting on the hill and the $20 burger stand not that busy, seemed a little out of touch.

Even Uni with their fantastic new stand had the well known Chicken Schnitzel Rolls at $7.50.

I always sample the BBQ fare when when I go to away games.
Though I would draw the line at a $20 burger.
I would want it hand fed to me, on a silver platter for that price.

I attended North Sydney Oval on Sunday for the first time in years and the atmosphere hasn't changed, But to stand inline for 15 -25 min for a couple of coffees is a JOKE! Plus Its at the front gate away from the game. I'm not a barrister but they need to be told that you can make more than 1 coffee at a time. As for the food after the time in line I'll give 4 out of 10.

North sydney tried manfully all day but they need a lot more outlets to prevent the rather long wait to be served.
Food was OK
