Seems the teams were against having a buy round as they didn't like coming into the semis under done. In hindsight, may have suited the Chiefs.

They also don't want to give up the extra finals hosting opportunity - finals generally bank big returns for the home (some more than others) and hosting a quarter or a semi can be the difference between making a loss or a profit in any given year for a lot of teams in the comp.
