Kini Naholo, who was rumored to be Japan-bound, has instead re-signed with 'canes for two seasons.
He was Japan bound WOB, already had been released by the Naki, but stuffing up his knee cost him the contract. I actually think the club he was going to would of been almost relieved, as they got demoted I think, so would of been a waste of money.

Cully reports that Josh Jacomb is keen on moving to Clan so as to get regular starting minutes & push his AB chances. Tribe understandably not do keen but I reckon a deal will be done.

Been hearing that talk WOB, ironically just 2 years ago Chiefs were sending 10s to Japan and one to Crusaders. Apparently JRK has been talking how good he thinks things are shaping up at the Clan.

Moana Pasifka signings... do they have enough to field a team for 2026

Laumape and Harada on a sabbatical from Japan are the only ones I've seen. I'm guessing they'll fill up from the NPC once the season is done, they've done that a fair bit in the past. Maybe there is some on-island talent playing for Tonga/Samoa in the PNC (Pacific Nations Cup) they have their eye on as well?

Doesn't bode well for them though, I expect all their progress is going to be undone pretty quickly.

was this just posturing to get a better deal? What was the logic or thought process to taking games to Mt Smart stadium to start with?

I suggested as much coupla weeks ago...

Could also be a negotiating tactic with their Eden Park contract having expired.

The only other reason I could think of was they were trying for the Wahs at Mount Smart vibe which imo is impossible because the fans who create that vibe are either loig diehards or if they're also into rugby would be more likely to follow Moana.

Fair enough. Id assume the corporate facilities at Mt Smart are less then Eden Park also.
Eden Parks multi-purpose design to host cricket means it lacks atmosphere if the crowds are smaller, a similar situation that Stadium Australia/Homebush faces.. Whilst Mt Smart is an improvement, it's still not a great design for an intimate crowd

Ali Williams & his billionaire girlfriend had plans to upgrade Western Springs to a decent size for A-League with Loss Bleus as a secondary tenant but that's fallen through so it's Eden Park 2.1 or nothing for the foreseeable. They are going to make it a bit more rectangular with retractable seating but I'm not sure how much difference that'll make. @zer0 & @KiwiM may have some thoughts.

Interesting podcast I watching. I know it was done pre super this season but it's what a lad one and involves Jack Mesley super rugby CEO, and what they looking at for he super comp. He said really aiming for setting things for 2026-29 and then reassess as new broadcasting deals etc take place. I really knew nothing about him' just he was an Aussie fella that got the gig. I saw some on here saying he just came from A league etc, didn't realise he was involved in rugby way back in 2003 WC etc. Very interesting anyway, especially for an old bugger who has never really got into podcasts etc, and finding ones like this great.
