Good to see a council being proactive and not waiting till Friday afternoon at 3 to make a call which makes it much harder to relocate.Blacktown Council social media reports. All grounds closed until Tuesday 4:00 p.m..
That removes one backup option. More to come I suspect and it will be a miracle if anyone gets on this weekend.
Does that bring into play the mysterious Tripple point round 11 for Knox and Blacktown?? Could be massive for Knox’s finals hopes if Blacktown pip them at home.Yep that rules out Knox vs Blacktown at either ground. Two weeks in a row washed out for the Knox lads
Not exactly on the coast but very wet here in Concord - not sure what Drummoyne is like ATM but assume Canada Bay will be closing most grounds here.thus far it appears as though the West is getting the lion share of the rain compared to the coast.
Well it depends on what their appetite for risk is. Gone are the days when you assumed that your ground was going to look like a dust bowl come September (Coogee Oval anyone). As annoying as that was, it was assumed that that's what yo'd have to deal with at that time of the year. But now, unless every blade of grass is in pristine condition, end user groups arc up and start blaming council. Council reacts accordingly and shuts down the fields if somebody knocks over a water bottle. Not exactly on the coast but very wet here in Concord - not sure what Drummoyne is like ATM but assume Canada Bay will be closing most grounds here.
This really begs the question about rugby being a winter sport, how do we get as many games as possible onto the grounds? Is part of the issue just too many games on one patch?
I'm a Rabbitohs NRL member and on occasion reserves have been moved, due to rain, from Accor (even when scheduled originally there) in the past to protect the ground. If a multi-million dollar stadium can't bear 1 game of league, how can local parks continue to host multiple on a day?
I'm sure they'll try to work in a makeup fixture at some point, but triple points would be comedy. In a 6 team comp no less, a triple point win carries so much weight.Does that bring into play the mysterious Tripple point round 11 for Knox and Blacktown?? I’ve said it a heap I’d like to see calls made this afternoon or early tomorrow on games. We all know the outcome
Can we get a timestamp please? Need to check this out. It was in the third grade game right?Did I hear the Lindfield player that kung-fu kicked a Newport player only got a handful of games on the sidelines? Having seen the footage, I'm surprised. I guess one rule for one club and another for everyone else.
It's chaos at Olympic Park in the NRL - doesn't bode well for SaturdayI foresee alot of games will be washed out this weekend, even with a sunny forecast. I hope everyone keeps it in perspective and understands this is not the fault of subbies. We can not be blaming the board as most grounds are council owned and we have little control.
Think you are on the wrong forum. This is obviously the Board's fault! Where are the wet weather weekends. Why do we have byes for the Lions games?I foresee alot of games will be washed out this weekend, even with a sunny forecast. I don’t think anyone is blaming Subbies for the weather and washouts. What I would like to see from them is a bit of leadership in these conditions rather than worrying about upsetting someone if they miss out on a game.. It feels like everyone knows the outcome at 9 this morning but is waiting till 6-7 tomorrow night on the chance council may open the ground.I foresee alot of games will be washed out this weekend, even with a sunny forecast. We could have conditions like those up North and we’d still have clubs going if the sun comes out and the field drains well…
You must be new around here. We can and will blame the board. We can not be blaming the board
