Sydney Subbies 2025

never understood why they want to stop (in some cases) 5-6 games ( 150 plus humans) for cricket which at most will see 22 humans. If you rent the fucking field out for rugby , (and charge a pretty penny for it) then keep it open. its only mud ffs.

I don’t agree with it, but it’s more to do with how much money and time they have to spend getting it back up to “standard”. Councils now have teams that go round and manage the fields rather than just a bloke with a mower who cuts it every few weeks. It’s ridiculous cause ultimately the grass will grow back it may just be muddy for a few extra weeks.
Also I could go down to any field and host an unbooked day of rugby like you see at numerous fields with “social” cricket games and destroy the ground but pay a ridiculous amount of money to hire the ground and not use it for half the year….

Our field gets a lot of "nah totally not clubs just a bunch of mates having fun" who run full on drills for various sports during wet weather like this.

And look, it is a community field that is easily accessible and drains well.

It is the attitude that they'll happily destroy ANY field they can get their hands on.

Inconsistent sides have hurt us, but the last month has been good. If everyone was on the park we would be able to give it a real shake. Thankfully some weeks we have been able to share players with St Pats which has allowed us to keep our teams competitive. Then we have some guys who can't play every week with work. A tough finish to the year in the last two rounds where we play Kings and Wakehurst. They are probably a class above where we are at, however if we play well we will be a chance to push Balmain in the first final.

Wow.... dual registration between Subbies clubs! This is the 'outside of the box' thinking from the admin. Sharing between the Saints! Assuming they must be lower grades Pats players who then travel to St Ives?
Wonder if other clubs are aware of this arrangement and opportunity. The only ones I've heard of exist between Premier Rugby and Subbies clubs.

A quick search will show that there is a certain side in 5th Div and a certain team in 4th grade shield that share a player
