Well SANZAR needs a new CEO.
It's a concept that could generate decent revenue for super rugby teams or the ARU if used no more than occasionally. I can't believe any of you actually believe there is no potential audience for a Wallabies vs Kangaroos match. It'd be massive.
It's a bullshit concept that plays into Leagues hands. The two sports are different despite League being an offshoot of Union, just leave it like that.
and then, like Big Brother, flares and the mullet, the novelty appeal would wear off and we'd move on.
Why does it play into league's hands? Rugby would benefit from the bigger league fan base wanting to watch it. That would drive the revenue.
IMO it works only for both groups, if both groups are bringing the same numbers of eyeballs to the table.
Hence why it would have to be Kangaroos v all blacks, because a game with wallabies wouldn't bring eyeballs to the table for league, not net gain.
All blacks bring nz views and the brand would also bring other viewers from everywhere and the kangaroos would bring aus league viewers.
Dave Smith effectively cooked his goose when he jetted off to the RWC recently AND wore a Welsh rugby jumper. Some league supporters were less than impressed with that. Although Bulldogs' CEO Raelene Castle seems to get away with attending Bledisloes with black bunting.
The toll the job has taken on his family is also said to have been a factor, and the Welsh-born former banker, who had never previously been involved in sports administration, was even criticised last week for attending the Rugby World Cup match between Australia and Wales in a Welsh jersey.
It's been coming for months, after he negotiated the new deal with ch 9, that diminishes significantly Ruperts earn out of the game.Dave Smith effectively cooked his goose when he jetted off to the RWC recently AND wore a Welsh rugby jumper. For the record though, the ABs would pump them. 100-0.
Your man Millner-Skudder was not a star, AFAIK, just a good first grader in the NRL, and now he is one of the best in the world in our game.
