MOM Doyle.. which is a surprise because all the bitching Ive seen about the kid in threads, he wouldn't be much chop.. but his a gamer
Proper match that one. I agree, Doyle is bloody good. Easily best on the field. I bet the people down in Wollongong at Woonona Shamrocks where he comes from must be very proud. They should show what clubs produce these kids (but Syd Uni get all the glory???). Eli Langi was so good as well.
watching Argentina u20 at the moment. They are enormous!

Tall Poppy BS from someone whos son, nephew didn't get picked or saw him have a quite trial game as 14 year old once.

He has always been a top 3 player on the field in any game I've seen whether it be U18s, SR19s or this. He's going to be a Super Rugby mainstay for a long time.

Great showing by the boys. These guys don't carry scars with age and also success v NZ in younger age groups. If it stays dry I have high hopes for the next couple of games but if it's wet those big argies will be hard to contain in tight. Might see some changes in the pack though to beef it up and rotate guys.

Doyle was huge, NZ lineout was looking good and then they stole that last one which set up the oppportunity to draw.
Good thing they got the try and conversion because looked to me like it should have been a penalty try off the second last maul, a lot of infringing going on.

On the flip side I thought we were very lucky there. The ref had called maul, so I’m not sure why the Kiwi 16 had to release at all. Completely understand why he was confused at getting carded. Maybe he’d already infringed to get there but the ref appeared to be penalising him solely because he didn’t release.

Happy to take it either way.

Could have gone either way I think but my take on the decision was that the maul finished when the Aussie player broke away and carried towards the line. It was then a tackle and NZ wouldn't roll away/release.

Quite possibly right as I don’t recall the commentators mentioning it at all. Aside from the guy binned, everyone else seemed okay with it. So maybe I just wasn’t paying attention.
