Wallabies 2025

Ignoto

Peter Sullivan (51)
Not much to add,

Within moments, he arrives, offering a limp handshake.
Sums up the bloke.

Jones says he is confident Dolphins halfback Isaiya Katoa and Canberra Raiders winger Xavier Savage would be playing for the Wallabies if he was still in charge.

“No one knew that we had that plan in place,” Jones says. “They were both going to be off contract.”

I don’t watch that much league but those guys aren’t good enough to warrant clandestine meetings nor for EJ (Eddie Jones) (Eddie Jones) to use as a distraction of his failures.
Katoa was the best schoolboy player in his year. Carried Barker on his back and his game against Knox to win the title was unbelievable. The bloke just creates time and has the coolest head for a young guy. 5/8's of his talent are worth clandestine meetings.

Yes, I'd be surprised if RA didn't talk to him - even more surprised if his agent didn't initiate that conversation. Easy for Eddie to say "yeah mate, he'd be a Wallaby now" when he's no longer responsible for the negotiations.

Eddie's big on the plans he had for restructuring rugby in Australia - as have many, many people over the past 30 years.

Doubt Decent would hold any grudges, he did nothing wrong and was ultimately proven right. He broke a massive story, he’d be loving this!

Are you serious? Barker against Knox?

5 - Williams
6 - Valetini

9 - McDermott
10 - Donaldson
11 - Sua'ali'i

20 - Gleeson
21 - White
22 - Lolesio
23 - Daungunu

Thats a very good prediction; I would most certainly swap out Ben Donaldson for Tom Lynagh, the Queensland 9 and 10 paring at they reds has been proving to work so dominant. Tom Lynagh is also in some serious form as of late.

It's interesting how much more positive the appraisal of Jones is from the Japanese blokes I know in Australia compared to nearly anyone else.

Not exactly surprising, surely. And far from interesting. Like almost, EJ (Eddie Jones) has been adequate in Japan and an utter gutter-fuck in Australia. Would that go close to explaining it?

not quite, the poms i know despise him to the same degree as us despite Eddie delivering some good results for them

Ollie Hoskins has announced his retirement. Might not be much more than a footnote in terms of the Wallabies themselves, but an all round good guy and his surprise cap is one of the real feel good stories to come out of the game in recent years:

One of the things we did get reminded of on the week end, is how useful a back three working on kick return is to run support lines and the ball carrier being conscious of those runners

And us Western Force fans are ever grateful to his mum:

"The Hoskins’ brothers mum Jennifer and friend Irma Cooper were known as the “scrum mums” who organised the 2004 public rally at Subiaco Oval where 5000 fans spelt out “Super 14 For Perth” to help tip the battle against Melbourne for a side in Perth....

They did but he was always under contract with the Panthers who had him at Barker. He was playing NSW Cup when the School Season finished. No path at the Panthers and the Dolphins needed a good Halfback.

Would he be good at Rugby? Yes, he was very classy but always going to League and would be making 500-600k now.

EJ (Eddie Jones) is just after the spotlight.

Continuing the discussion from the Brumbies/Tahs thread:

Barring a fortuitous return from Kerevi (though apparently he's doing pretty well over in Japan), I predict Schmidt will go:
12. Ikitau
13. Sua'ali'i
11/14: Kellaway/Pietsch/Potter
15. Wright
23. Third winger

Still can't work out whether it's White/Donno or McDermott/Lyangh though.
