My guess above

That would give us (obviously with players potentially swapping from starting to the bench).

1. Bell
2. Porecki
3. Ala'alatoa
4. Williams
5. Skelton
6. Valetini
7. McReight
8. Wilson
9. Gordon
10. Lolesio
11. Potter
12. Ikitau
13. Sua'ali'i
14. Jorgensen
15. Wright

16. Pollard 17. Slipper 18. Tupou 19. Frost 20. Gleeson 21. McDermott 22. Donaldson 23. Daugunu

I got my maths wrong. We need to cut one more person which I've picked as Kellaway.

I reckon this is pretty much it but maybe Faessler instead of Porecki and Hooper instead of Gleeson

Tom Lynagh should be playing for the Reds if this team ultimately comes to fruition. You can’t deny players the opportunity to play the Lions.

The fact that neither Lynagh or Donaldson have been released is interesting, it's probably just coverage, but it does open the door for them to both play against Fiji.

Which ever one misses out will have to be the starting 5/8th in the AUs/NZ game in Adelaide.

Bang on, it's just about who will be starting wingers/23 which will be one of the more competitive areas

I have no idea whether people are posting about the Fiji Test or the first Lions game. Wouldn't it be better to post on the match threads?

For instance, those posting about Porecki starting are presumably referring to Fiji while those mentioning Faessler starting probably mean the Lions. Similar with the No10s and perhaps the Locks and backrow.

It's somewhat both. Certainly the team I named is a suggestion for who I expect to play against Fiji but I'm expecting us to pick close to a full strength side for that game leading into a very similar team for the first Lions test.

Aside from Faessler I expect that any players being released to their Super Rugby side aren't in line to play in the first test against the Lions.

I think it's quite pertinent to be speculating about what the first choice 2025 XV looks like in the Wallabies 2025 thread even if it might be hinting at the make up of the first game v Fiji. That match thread will no doubt appear in due course.

We still have 29 players to choose from for the first match. Nothing is a given but the release of Faessler for the Qld game is probably the most surprising one. Someone stated above that it's probably to give all 3 hookers some game time considering the 2 frontrunners are lacking in match fitness. That could be right but the same result could have been achieved by playing Faessler in the first test and running Porecki in the Tahs game. So I think it's either because:
- internal testing showed Fez to be the least fit of the 3 options and therefore was relegated, or
- the 3 days extra recovery time that the Qld players get ahead of the first test was a consideration
- Or a bit of both perhaps.

I think the major consideration is probably the fact that Porecki has no time with the wallabies under Schmidt and Pollard has the least of the 4 hookers used last year, where as Faessler is very much a known quantity and was used extensively. Given the bench hooker is always going to play an important role it could be a simple as getting minutes with the wallabies into those two, to make sure that they're both as up to speed as possible and to give Schmidt the opportunity to compare them.

Best & Less selling some cheap, official merch for anyone looking for a deal on supporters kit:

It's a supporters jersey rather than the actual strip, but $40 for a jersey ($30 for kids) is an insanely good deal.
This is awesome - looks like I'm off to get one for my boy!
