Wallabies 2025

Mr Pilfer

Ron Walden (29)
Really looking forward to the AUNZ game on Saturday.

Joe Schmidt named a 36 man squad for Fiji and apparently will name a 40 man squad for the Lions on Friday.

That won't give him time to judge the performance of any of the AUNZ players to see if they should be included, such as Koroibete, BPA or Pete Samu. Do we think any of them will get added in to the 40? What about Kerevi? I assume another 10 will come in (HMP/Edmed)

I can't see anyone dropping out of the original 36, even the ones under injury cloud (Noah)

The Roar has Lolesio potentially being in doubt for the Lions, but it's all very vague with little information and can really just be summed up in its third paragraph...

Sources have told The Roar his injury, which Schmidt said was likely a bad case of “whiplash”, is much worse than first acknowledged, despite the Wallabies putting out a statement on Sunday evening saying he had been “discharged from hospital” and “cleared of any significant damage”.

Christy was keen to get that out quickly so it could be an "exclusive," but the Nine papers have details...

The Wallabies released a statement on Sunday night saying Lolesio had been discharged and “cleared of significant damage” and would be monitored.

But, the severity of the neck injury has been greater than initially thought, according to informed sources, and Lolesio was due to see a specialist in Brisbane on Monday, with the chance that the 25-year-old could require surgery.

Honestly, even if he is “available” should he really be involved considering how many times he’s been strechered off in his last few games

For good reason?
The reason as I understand it is continuing to invest in the players playing in Aus with a future in the jersey, over blokes who've done it before now playing overseas - fair enough - but I feel like the reason becomes less good if 2 of the 3 chosen are busted

If there were guaranteed better players to select from overseas to play in the Lions series there's no doubt they would've been drafted in...

But I think there's some mythological status being applied to some of those names being thrown around, based on little actual playing form in recent years.

Wallabies statement on Lolesio:
Lolesio sustained an on-field injury in the second half of the Test against Fiji in Newcastle on Sunday. After being initially discharged from hospital on Sunday night, Lolesio was readmitted for surgery this afternoon following a further medical follow-up.

He is expected to make a full recovery and will spend a period of time away from the game during his rehabilitation.
