Slim. The box kick cost us the match. There is no getting around it. It was a massive mistake.

It was probably the wrong decision, and it was definitely poorly executed, and it was one of the factors that didn't help us at the end...........

But our forwards were struggling at the time to turn over the ball and it seemed imminent that we were about to lose it............

So either we had to keep doing what we were doing and risk turning it over/giving away a penalty, or if we were going to kick it someone else needed to step up and boot it down field at least.........

But the fact is after the box kick (after the kick!) we had the ball again, so you can't blame the box kick for losing us the game. Simple.

All we had to do then was maintain possession, and we failed to do that in one phase.

No. You don't play rugby in your half. It's the first lesson you're told. Sure they can't score without the ball but turnovers are inevitable, reduce the risk. The ball should've gone out in their half. Reset the defence.

Yes then Wallabies played on, got dominated went back wards and White at 78:34min BOX KICKED from the 22 giving the AB's a line. they streched Wallabies from side to side and Scored a try with White again not even attempting to hold up the player but instead of flopping on top of him helping him ground the Ball..

They tried the ball-retention thing in the previous possession and the ABs were all over the ruck and earned a penalty. We were under the same pressure when White tried the box kick.

Tomane should have released to the inside so someone could kick it to the halfway line.

Did it lose it any more than Foley's missed tackle on Fekitoa that led to the winning try? Really?

We were 2 short - they were gonna score. Choice to box-kick was a poor decision at that time. Many factors caused the loss, some we "chose" to do, some we didn't. And the ABs were just too bloody good in the last couple of minutes. They don't need 2 chances.
Our short kicking in general was crap - few grubbers / cross field kick / few box kicks. It just has to be better executed. Or not done if they cannot get it right.

Commiserations to the Wallaby supporters.

That first half by the Wallabies was the best rugby they've played all season. Fardy was hard to the ball and made the ABs pay for not committing numbers. Lilo was very effective ball in hand. The tactics were largely right with little kicking to our back 3 and running at the Fekitoa channel (who is not a 2nd 5 by any description).

I thought the use of Folau was far too predictable. Conrad had his number all night and made a number of big tackles.

Phipps superb. White aaarrgghhhhh, what the hell were those box kicks. I had a wry smile when he came on. Foley was okay, but the damage was done in the midfield.

Other than Fardy I don't think there was a real standout in the pack, but that's a good thing for OZ, it shows them working a bit more as a pack and not in isolation.

Thought McCaw played well. Showed good nous for the ball. Messam was shocking. Read was okay in attack but has really struggled in other physical exchanges since the head knocks.

Barrett was okay. He took on the line which is good to see given he has the pace to concern the opposition. With a bit more experience starting he will grow into the role IMO.

Really pleased for Slade. In fact our bench weren't too bad. Charlie and Patrick put in some big tackles in the last couple of minutes and Cane was his effective best. Piutau added some straight running which Savea clearly wasn't tonight.

What drama. Well done Aussies. But man did I let out a huge yell when Fekitoa scored. The whole neighbourhood would've heard. And then a huge yeeesssssssss when Slade chipped over the conversion.

I think Link should have taken off Foley and put Cooper on towards the end. Foley has no kick and Cooper does. Much harder to score from inside your own half.

Look at this way, if you kick to them, the defence knows they have the ball, you chase in a line, you generally work hard and tackle well you'll keep them out. You get turned over, the defence is panicking, scrambling and not aligned properly - that's when the ABs kill you.

Yes I thought poor reffing but scrums aren't my strong point. It looked to me Franks hit to ground first.

Same result mate, it's only 20 metres further downfield. You're still giving them the ball (as opposed to making them take it off you).
