Wallabies v England November 1

It’s not a dumb hypothetical, Because it’s realistic. Carter Gordon got injured at training last week, Donno got injured right before the 1st Springbok Test, Quade went down in the
Warm up before the English Series a few year back

As mentioned above, Stewart has Barely played any 10 in years and there is a reason for that. Tane may be the greatest example of failing upwards I’ve ever seen, but at least he plays the position

Hope like hell to be proven wrong
Seriously, I know we’re unlucky but what are the actual chances that Edmed does something in the warm-up? It’s possible but not likely. If Edmed gets knocked out in the first tackle, well shit, it’s gonna a hard slog because we’ll be down a bench but it’s not absolutely impossible. Donno wouldn’t inspire confidence to drive it home either.

It’s a collision sport, things happen. That’s why I questioned only taking 2 10s on Tour. I really don’t see why they couldn’t have just taken a 3rd one to have prover cover

Donno drove it home vs Fiji and the Lions in the 3rd test just this year, so while he’s not perfect at least he plays the position

only having two tens for a five game series is crazy espescially when one hasnt played the code in over a year

It’s more like two tens, and a third player who can cover ten for two tests prior to the international window and then they have a fourth…

I don’t really have an issue with the LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) selection. Just commenting on. How Schmidt really is very committed to his selection criteria. Absolute shame if Gordon doesn’t get up.
LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) literally forced Schmidt's hand with his performances.

I don't understand the English back row selection. Earl has been poor this season. Pepper is a talent but raw.

Chessum at 6 gives them so much more, He was excellent for the Lions,

“Donno wouldn’t inspire confidence to drive it home either.”

Not sure about that. Donaldson came off the bench last year v England and played his part at the death to close out the game for the win including a clever flick on for Jorgo’s winning try. He also did well against Fiji and the Lions earlier this year as someone mentioned earlier. I really like Stewart as a player but he ain’t a 10. For starters his kicking game is not Test standard. It’s a risky move by Schmidt but hope the Wallabies get the win against the mother nation.

Genuine question - do we normally take 3 specialist 10s on an EOYT? I would think 2 plus a utility would be pretty standard.

Whilst I can see an argument to take Donaldson to develop our specialists I can also see the need to develop our utility players who can cover 10 + other positions

Stewart isn’t a legitimate test option at ten

Bizarre Schmidt has left out Pietsch

He certainly has his favourites - Robertson, Nasser, Edmed, Potter, Stewart, guys I wouldn’t have in the squad
Was there ever a coach who didn’t have favourites?

Jones, Rennie, Cheika, Deans & even back to Smith & Dwyer. All of them picked some players who weren’t accepted for across the board as being the right choice.

Maybe not as a starter - but you seem to have deliberately ignored the point of that part of my post.
no I don't think he should be considered as an option at ten at test level fullstop, he dosen't play there and he's an average super rugby 12, I want to start winning tests

Yes we normally take 3. Had 3 in every squad last year and this year up until this tour

The Force also have 3 10’s in their squad because they know Stewart isn’t a 10 at Super Level let alone test level

Tbf I think they planned to have Tane, Carter and JOC (James O'Connor) as the backup. Ah well. Stewart just needs keep it simple and nail his role, whenever he comes on.
