Wallabies v France, 7.00am AEDT Sunday Morning

Yeah it's anyone's guess who will be the 10 even next year let alone 2027. The reported lack of involvement Kiss has had makes it all guesswork at this stage, and due to some weird selections we didn't learn anything about our 10's on the end of year tour

I'd say Super form matters, but this year sort of disproved that

He knows Lynagh well. And he'll get to know Gordon well next year. Heck he even knows HMP's game. more than able to make an educated guess at 10.

We don't know whether he likes Lynagh more than the others though, he didn't sign him. Like I said, we will see but how many people this time last year had Tane Edmed as the Wallabies 10

You must be kidding right?
He starts lynagh whenever he’s fit. Would be madness not to select him seeing as he’s had 2+ years experience with him.

Enough kicking Edmed around. In 2024 he kicked 5 out of 5 in a win against the Crusaders. He has always shown a lot of ability, and guts, never shirks the hard stuff. He has been inconsistent, sure, but I can understand why Schmidt has stuck with him. Maybe Joe and I know a bit about rugby!!

He starts him over the other options at the Reds, i struggle to see how that means he will automatically pick him over other options nationwide

By that logic Hunter Paisami and Josh Flook is the nailed on centre pairing for the World cup

You're overthinking it.
In a position where nobody has cemented their name you go with what you know. I reckon he's more likely to select HMP or JOC (James O'Connor) over Edmed or Lolesio. All the Reds need to do is make it work between the Lynagh and Gordon in the Reds 23 and that's likely to translate over to the Wallabies. Besides Schmidt is selecting the team for the first games and I seriously doubt he wants to pick Edmed, JOC (James O'Connor) or Donaldson over Lynagh and Gordon. Would be truly alarming if Kiss went the other way with his thinking.

That assumes that Kiss doesn't think someone has cemented the job. For all we know he might be Edmed's biggest fan

It also assumes we know that Kiss will want to play the exact same way with the Wallabies that he does with the Reds. You may well be right but coaches do weird things all the time

Look, I think he'll do his best to keep an open mind (like Mckenzie did) but I cannot see a world where he thinks Edmed is a better option than the rest. And he would have had a look at him for the Au/NZ game.
Or, maybe he asked Schmidt to play Edmed but I doubt that because Schmidt picked Edmed for the spring tour last year before Kiss was confirmed.
