Wallabies v Italy - 9 November

KOB1987

Tim Horan (67)
Yeah, we just lost to Italy
We are 7th in the rankings and they are 10th with a home ground advantage. It’s the same spread in the rankings as the South Africa v France game in progress right now. We just need to accept where we are in the rugby world. We do get a shot at redemption next week v Ireland, IMO they are on the slide as well and are vulnerable.

How exactly have we improved? You or I could have improved the team from what Eddie left, but how is the team better today than it was against Wales last year??
That’s a very generous assumption of my coaching ability.

I’d argue our set piece, which for the last decade has been our Achilles heel, has improved.

The score board is generous. The breakdown was lazy. Carter Gordon showing why Rugby Australia brought him back. Now stick with him and give him time to add cohesion in the backline to unlock Joseph Sua'ali'i. Max Jorgensen would have found the line on that wide pass after Carter’s break.

Where's the beef

Fred Wood (13)
Schmidt selections now need to be crucified.

Must start next week
Lonergan at 9. Quick zippy runner

LKH gives us go forward

Pietsch tough hrs running

Jorgo to Fullback

Dungaono to wing

AAA to start

Carlo has to be in the 23
Don't disagree. Joes interview was pretty insightful well before the game. Someone posted it. Jorgo not picked as was ill, Same with Pietch, Carle knee improving but not right yet.

I warned there would be blood if Italy stayed close and there was.

Carter looks impressive but much of the attack was side to side not forward. Looked better than it was.

Tane may as well have run himself and did at times. No real go forward at all.

The fact is that apart from Fraser, and Tom Hooper, who I would say drew with his counterpart, no other man matched his equivalent from Italy.

They deserved their win. They took their points and their chances.

I know we have alot of people out, but, we needed alot more from the many not the few.

I would make quite a few changes for next week. Its not about the win now, its about next year. (for me it always was)

9 Lonegan
10 Carter or Tane Does not matter to me.
11 Peitch
12 Itikau
13 Dungunu
14 JAS
15 Jorgenson

Kelleway does not make the 23 nor does toole or potter.

JOC (James O'Connor) (James O'Connor) and Flook are my backs reserves and I would be tempted to blood the other 9. JOC (James O'Connor) (James O'Connor) covers 12.

The forwards have to front.
Flook? Nope.

- Didn’t see Samu do anything except pick that ball up from the Italy knock on. Tizzano should replace him.

- Kellaway is not offering anything. I’d swap him with Max.

- Lonergan comes on and passes straight off the deck (he’s worth looking at closer). I am sick to death with Gordon’s slow pass.

- Scrum looked strong when Ross came on.

- we’re not good enough at recycling our ball I think that’s where we’re missing the big heavy lock. We’re so accurate with our cleans.

- Toole didn’t have a bad game as such, but he’s not effective at this level. He has 1 string to his bow, acceleration, and that doesn’t shine at test level. Pietch takes his spot.

Where's the beef

Fred Wood (13)
He's looking like someone who looks like they no longer want to be there (which he informed us of twice & we begged him to stay on)
I disagree, What I saw after the game was a visibly upset coach who was not happy with the effort. First time I have heard Joe use the words 'we were flat today and thats not good enough' I actually thought he was hurting more than Harry.

not good enough is an understatement, and the fact thats the first time he's said that is poor considering our performances under him

Man another tough watch. Glad I didn't get up early for it. Where to Start? Lack of cohesion, dumb errors, maybe there.

If I was Ireland or France, I'd play a b team as this Wallabies would struggle to beat a wet paper bag
