Hope all the aussies come out of the woodwork tomorrow, sick of being outnumbered with all these red shirts!

Over for this game from Perth and you qld folk have some great pubs for rugby, been to felons, breakfast creek, gillhooleys so far and off to regatta and Caxton street tomorrow. Let’s go wallabies

Went and grabbed a coupe of extra scarves and jerseys yesterday. Will be at Caxton St later as well, it’ll be absolutely packed today so might be a bit of a line for beers

Yep sounds like it but a lot of them doing car park parties with extra bars from the sounds of it so hopefully that helps

That's a pretty common "I'm stonger than you" tackle technique in junior league isn't? Don't see it as much in NRL but there are 120+ one on one steals each year
Partly that but also one of the only opportunities for a steal is when Centres face each other in League with the rules around stealing the ball. They practice it as much as the wrestle as a progression from the catch part of the tackle. Even if you don’t get the ball you slow the play which allows the defence to settle. Can be very useful in Rugby. Remember what the Irish did to the Wallabies when they held everyone up.

Hard v the Lions with size and skill but with JAS I expect we’ll see a few mauls over his career in the midfield if he gets hold of guys. Imagine how strong this guys going to be in 2-3 years when he’s 25.

Choke tackles for mauls are more of a team strategy than a one off tackler tactic, it is much more effective when it's 2-3 players working in conjunction. The Reds run it a fair bit - Les Kiss was the architect of the 2011 Irish strategy and you can see it in the stats that have them as the 'highest tackling' team in world (club) rugby. It's not so central to the wallabies defensive strategies though - this was a big part of why Smith was dropped from the initial Wallabies squad under Schmidt.

Normanby Hotel is having a carpark party as well I believe.

Personally for anyone looking for a less busy but still good atmosphere pregame, I would go there.

It’s early days, but ominously I’ve seen about 20:1 Lions to Wallabies jerseys out and about.

edit, make that about 100:1

Driving around Brisbane today it seems like there are thousands of Lions fans but I can't shake the feeling I'm just seeing the same bloke over and over again. Either that or every Lions fan is bald, overweight, and closely resembles a polythene bag filled with undercooked pork.

They only packed the one set of clothes from what I can tell walking around the CBD this week.
It's a strange trait that I associate almost exclusively with the English. When I travel for a sporting event, I don the supporters' garb to go to the game. The English seem to arrive at the airport, put on their jersey and continue to wear it every minute of every day for the duration of the trip.

..... if true, it would at least explain the smell.
