Waratahs 2026

After watching the Shute Shield final, do we think there was any players worth getting the call up to the Tahs?

2, 8 and 10 for the Rats are my picks.
Sounds like the 8 (Chlayton Frans) will be for Super AU - Nick Phipps mentioned the tahs had called him up on between two posts

Re "getting the crowds back"

I can see the logic of Fridays nights consistently being game night

1/ Over 500,000 people work in the CBD each day

2/ Getting the habit started for a subset to use the good public transport to get to the game

The same kind of habit was created for a while when Sydney FC was playing at North Sydney oval and a load of the gilet wearing worker drones rolled in for the match

and the rusted ons are going to turn up more often than not anyway

Good to see fellas from Hunter getting some recognition for a decent year. I know Scott Coleman is the Coach but Darren being the DoR up there is a good thing. He does find talent that can feed through. Vailanu was one of DCs find as well right? Had him around the SS > MLR > NSW

Tahs are also improved by having a Bruce on the roster.

Hopefully he's not on the roster they already have one non eligible hooker, this bloke won't help anyone as a 29 yojourneyman by the start of next super rugby season they need to develop players long term and this competition is one of the first places in McKellar's reign that he can do this.

6 outside of the current contracted players is about right. You can't flood it with Club guys if you want the comp to be a step up from the Club comp and actually prepare players for higher honours. It's a battle to earn a contract and see if the academy guys are ready for the next level.
