I absolutely agree with this, World Rugby really needs to be reaching out to someone like 2K or EA and trying to get a proper rugby game made. I've played some of the stuff that's on the market, but to be honest it's all a bit shit.

I strongly believe that one of the big drivers of soccer's success in non traditional markets, e.g. USA, Aus etc has been due to the Fifa franchise. Same with the NFL and Madden.
Funnily enough one of the things NZR and Silver Lake were talking about was developing a rugby egame from what I read. It is really a way forward to attracting more new eyes to the game, especially in USA/Asia I think.

Is the time nigh to relaunch this barnacle-hulled old classic?

How do Aussie bethren think the super round in Melbourne will go interest wise.
I still think it a good idea, and is a shame that covid prevented it being on when it would of done the most good, ie before NRL and AFL got started. As a kiwi I would be happy if they did same next year, and had it in Aus early as they wanted to this year, to give game in Aus a boost early season. Whether it is in Melbourne or whereever.

Yeah I like it. Annoyed that it's on the ANZAC day long weekend, meaning I'll be out of state. But I assume that works the inverse and all the cashed up GAGRites will be flying in to complain about the weather from interstate.

Seriously why is this thread back on the front page as surely after the countless options presented, people finally realise nzru and RA (I will mention both to avoid angst) don’t give a fuck what fans want from a provincial super rugby competition and only care about their national team and this being a feeder for that.

Meanwhile as Rome burns, fans desert the game, rival oz footy codes (afl, nrl and a-league) encroach with their expansion/ ambitions, along with increasing threat of strong and cashed up Japanese and European rugby clubs. Fuck I am over bureaucratic national rugby factions owning this part of the game, as they are stifling the opportunity to grow the game in the region with their own agendas. Rant over…

Guess it on the page for exactly reason you put RN, even in here with a couple of dozen posters there are countless ideas of how comp should be, so there is obviously no clear idea of what to do.
And if they changed it we would still probably have countless ideas of why it should of been changed a different way.

So I guess you are saying there is no way we can ever make this a successful competition by involving two key players (national unions) with different competing agendas and needs from the competition. Gees so we could have come to that conclusion from page 1 and save the other thousand odd pages.
