Draw for next season's Super W has been released and its still too short.

On the flipside, what is positive, is:

The 2024 season will also see additional investment into new women's high performance environments and player development pathways, with the Next Gen Sevens evolving into the Super Rugby Women's 7s competition and the launch of an all-new Super Rugby Women's U19 competition.

Hopefully the U19 comp aligns to the below and is not just over three days like the Womens Nationals used to be (and they played 2 reduced minutes per day).

Also worth noting: "In the near future we will be able to share more details about the second phase of Rugby Australia's strategic plan for the growth of the women's game, encompassing the 2024 and 2025 seasons leading into the next Rugby World Cup in England."

I'd really hoped they'd go to home and away this year, a 10 game season has to be the absolute bare minimum. Maybe we'll see a bit of crossover with Super Rugby Aupiki with it set to run on a similar timeline

Regarding Eddie and the women's set-up. Is there any evidence it is actually his job to oversee the program (outside of the statements made in the press conference at the time of signing)? He has intimated a few times he is not really involved beyond giving pieces of advice here and there. I'd also imagine the oversight role is the duty of the yet to be appointed high performance director.

As time passes it seems like McLennan claiming he would look after both mens and womens programs was just the Hammer running his trap.

I think even at the time of the announcement, many were sceptical about the extent of Eddie's involvement with the women's team and if that 'additional responsibility' was added in to help boost his contract value and make it seem more palpable to the board.

Eddie in the press conference looked like he’d forgotten about it when it was brought up.

When asked if he was going to the game he took a pause before saying No.

Yeah and it seems very McLennan to ask him whether he'd drop in on a few meetings here and there during negotiations (which ik he's previously mentioned he has done). And then turn around and announce he was overseeing the program to the world.

I mean it’s not exactly an uncommon practice in the workplace. Im sure most of us have worked with a Head/Director of something who happen to be a special hire of the boss, paid above market salary, given ‘extra responsibility’ but really they’re doing the same or less than anyone else.

Anyone know if we get more money for being in the top tier of the WXV comp? We clearly aren’t tier one. Is it worth it being beaten up most weeks or would we have been better getting continuity and confidence in tier 2?

please tell me this new world series in the mens is not going to be like this, playing in a neutral venue in front of a few fans that really dont care with zero atmosphere

You'd have to think she'd have carved up in the World Sevens circuit if she'd stuck with it.

Genuine speed and acceleration with great skills and physicality for someone her size.

yeah I was always shocked she didn't get that opportunity. Perhaps timed with a time when we though the more physical game was needed? As she is tiny.
