Both Maya Stewart and Bienne Terita going down and leaving the field with knee injuries in the first 30 mins in the game against the Fijiana

Both her and Terita were two of the best so far before going off, hopefully not too serious for either

Yeah. Terita looked dangerous every time she touched the ball. And Pohiva made a number of crucial plays early on when needed. Impressed with Miller as well. Not had a lot of touches but has been playing much bigger than her stature in defence.

Good win for the women, interestingly couldn’t make many inroads but got most traction by being most disciplined and good ruck defence.

How about that permanent red card! This is thuggery! Loved the comms from the ref.

Yeah that late incident was pretty bad hey. I was very interested to see what happened when the teams shook hands at the end - did the USA 12 come back on for this?

Not sure why it took so long to get the highlights up when Super Rugby packages are usually up within an hour, but in this case later is definitely better than never:

Say what now?

1. NZ 1 win 1 draw 0 losses 8 points PD +26
2. Canada 1 1 0 8 +12
3. Australia 1 0 1 5 -18
4. USA 0 0 2 0 -20

Final Round NZ v USA, Canada v Australia so I'd say NZ are odds-on barring a huge upset.

How? What possible mitigation could there be?
Well, apparently it was only mid range. Which is baffling. So they started at 6 weeks and worked back from there. She also showed remorse so they decided it couldn't have been that bad. Because you know. She was sorry after the fact at the disciplinary meeting. Not on the field. Where she pushed Friedrichs in the head after the penalty was blown up. Or during the on field review where she huddled up. Or after shevwas given the red card where instead of trying to apologise to Friedrichs she jist ran off the pitch. No, jist at the disciplinart review.

This brings up a couple of questions for me. First, what qualifies as high range. Taking someonea head off? Blood? Possible severe long tern side effects?

The independent Disciplinary Committee was chaired by Michael Heron KC (New Zealand), joined by former international players Becky Essex (England) and Ofisa Tonu’u (New Zealand).
The Committee found that there was foul play and that it met the red card threshold consistent with the referee’s decision. There was contact with the head by the player’s boot. The player repeatedly stamped her foot and deliberately so but the Committee accepted the player’s evidence that she did not intend to contact the head. On careful review of the footage, and considering the player’s evidence and submission, the Committee found that the player was not deliberately targeting the head of the Australian player, but rather was reckless in her actions (as she accepted). The contact to the head was glancing or grazing rather than direct and targeted. The Committee was not satisfied that the player looked down and was aware she was contacting the head of the Australian player.
