Reds 2019

TSR

FYI all.Notice from the Reds on behalf of Lukhan.

Lukhan (Tui) has legally changed his last name to Lukhan Salakaia-Loto - and that he wishes to be referred to by the full surname, effective immediately.
Thanks Reg. Can you give the background to the name change?

Lukhan needs a nickname

going from Tui to Salakaia-Loto gonna make for some interesting television broadcasts and Freudian slips

Nickname time... what we got?

he goes by Kahn doesn't he?

I actually like the way Salakai-Loto sounds (assuming it rhymes with Sam Talakai?)

Who is Michael Wood?

Haha. Telling to hear that from a Brother’s supporter. Or was that sarcasm.

I am scratching my head over signing of Wilson and then if this is true about Wood I am really questioning the direction of the program when it seems as though McReight is not even being considered.

The Reds already have a wealth of locks and big backrowers (6 & 8) but not investing in an open side flanker.

McReight was Aust u20 player of the year at 19. Considered one of the best players at the u20 World Champs and when he came back from France blitzed the club games and outplayed Wood and Wilson winning just about every man of match in back part of season.

Wilson and Wood have a long long way to go before they are even close to McReight’s standard.

I thought McReight was a little off the pace of the NRC. Behind Kibble, Gicquel and Wilson.

He was excellent at the Jnr WC

Regardless, Thorn is clearly a Darwinism fan in regards to skill + culture + cohesion.

I just hope he’s around long enough to see it pay off.

Depth might be a little slim at 7 but Liam Wright is pretty a damn good prospect. Not as hyped as some of the other Reds' rookies, probably because Australia churns out so many 7s, but I expect to see him playing in gold one day.

Who? Thorn? I agree, but I just cant take his original appointment very seriously. In the mixed bag (understated) that we find ourselves in, yes I hope we hold him long enough for Thorn to be logically held accountable for his actions. And to be lauded for his wins.

Are you suggesting he won't/may not survive?

Havn't been down to Brothers in a while sadly. Moved to NSW. Just keep being put off by so many just kids being promoted to full time professionals after what....being one of the better 19 year old players in any specific year? It's not like these guys have gone out and completely dominated the NRC, after doing multiple seasons in the NRC, Aus u20 etc. How many NPC stars, and I mean stars, miss out on a pro contract (out of 38) yet we seem to be like...oh you play rugby and your 19 from QLD? done.
