What’s the chances we see some QLD reds playing club rugby on Saturday. Friday night game. surely 16-23 on the bench back up in clubland the next day?
Would definitely increase Sunnybank’s chances if Lucas plays , likewise Brothers with TT and Frazer .

Gut feeling there will be no Tongan Thor.

World Cup year and all. Cheika probably decides who plays club rugby and that’s mandated to the states.

Has been impressive from my view. Haven't seen him play too much previously so I'm still waiting before I make a definitive judgement but as many of who have seen him, such a cool and calm temperament.

Having Hunter Paisami and Isaac Hentry outside of him has been great and he's d has been solid. Not much more I can expect tbh

Carter made a few errors that everybody seems not to notice (probably comes with the aus schoolboys reds academy rose tinted glasses), but hopefully hunter and Isaac will help him mature. I will say he seemed to stick to the game plan quite well.

...... They have some big timber, but lack the speed in the forwards to get the grind work done, that's where I think they will be vulnerable. If they come up with a team (such as UQ, Bond and Easts) that are quicker to the break-down, keep it tight and drive through the middle, then their big timber may become redundant. .....

At the level UQ forwards have been playing I would back wests forwards in a knife fight over them. UQs forwards have been the week point of their team this year. However I accept that Brothers & Bond will be the real litmus test. But I think they will be the benchmark for everyone this season.

Easts strike me as a team that might not dominate but they will be scrappy and a tough team to beat. They remind me a bit of the Brumbies in the Jake White error, there not doing anything groundbreaking but they are a solid backline, with good kickers behind a hard grafting pack. I don't think they will be whacked too many times this season.

Pretty sure no Reds or fringe Reds as they fly to SA saturday. So for Brothers no McReight, Tupou, Hooper or Toua. Wests ?

Both Wests and Brothers scrum very strong so suggest no obvious advantage but expect Wests to look to field position and use what looks like a good line out and rolling maul. Suspect Brothers to look to up tempo and look to more mobile back row and back line combos. Wests if they can make it an arm wrestle and Brothers if they can open it up. Get along to Crosby should be fun.

Also well worth listening to the Pillar to Post podcast as they give a great rundown of the previous weeks games and make their tips for the following round.

Ripping fellows too..

Will Eaddie back for UQ this weekend, he got his wings clipped for silly off-field behaviour, always thought his spot in the Reds full time squad was somewhat questionable. Will be interesting to see what a full pre-season under his belt has done.

Matt McGahan is the other Reds player pulling his boots on for the first time in 2019.

and Seb Wileman, who's come up from Sydney covering injury for Jordan Petaia is running out for Brothers. Unless he's already played for them this year?

Good to see that the Reds Recruitment Manager is continuing to do what he does best and that is funnelling Reds contracted players over to Crosby.

The list is endless Toua, George Smith, Tongan Thor, Sam Talakie, just to name some of the star recruits of the Reds that just happen to roll out wearing a Brothers jersey.

Looking forward to the Pilecki/Shaw (Maristonian v Christian Brothers) clash tomorrow.

Nothing like going to Crosby and coming away with the chocolates.

If Paisami wants to get back into a pro set up, he will really need to have a big showing this weekend then.

The filth were quite impressive but I still think Wests will be very good this year and make the 4.

Not the prettiest game at Shaw Road, the result could have gone either way but Sunnybank finished their chances.
Oracle ill wait for your rebuttal but at this stage I cant see anything a big wooden spoon for the Eagles, which is a shame.
That new defensive shape is really working out well for your boys isn’t it?

Sunnybank will have some massive problems this year with their terrible scrum and set piece.
What they are doing or actually not doing with their homegrown talents like Lloyd Gorman is criminal.

Wests will only be threatening if their 10 learns to stay in his lane and take the line on at least once in a game. Their kicks in play were shocking (just kicking it up in the air to allow Brothers lovely open play). They didn’t use 12 enough, who was one of the only level-headed ones with plenty of talent. I just don’t know where their heads were at. I know they were up against a good side, but panicking like they did won’t win them games.

Just a thought... what happened to player merit? Why do all contracted reds players seem to be considered automatically better than players who may just have gone unnoticed? I’ve seen some really great kids miss out on starting spots because of this shit.
