Waratahs 2021

Number 7

Darby Loudon (17)
What is this 'money' of which you speak?

If you believe the Newscorp press, there certainly isn't much flowing at the Tahs. From Pandaram's regular rugby s**tcanning article today in the Australian:

"The NSW Waratahs, who remain $2 million under the $5.5 million salary cap expenditure for 2021, have delayed a strategy meeting until they get a clearer picture of rugby’s financial situation following their broadcast deal, announced as worth $30 million in cash a year for the next three years."

The article goes on to say the strategy day is in December. This doesnt leave a lot of time to recruit players before the season next year.

I read the article it says that there are a few spots left. If it has some truth to it it must mean a few players are staying put and have not been announced.

With that much money around can only think their saving it for a crack at Angus Crichton, no sources involved but that is serious cash - maybe with Koro uneasy could lure him? Matt Phillip and Rodda should be targeted aswel

I think the money needs to be spent on a few decent locks and a few experienced depth players to help the kids coming through

Matera has said in the past that he would like to live in Sydney and play for the Waratahs as he loves the lifestyle but Petti and Alemano were huge in the row. Not going to happen but they would be top of my list.

That's what I was thinking. Aiming for the Pumas 2nd row as at the very least a stop gap solution for a season. They wouldn't be overly expensive I'd imagine and would provide a lot of bang for whatever the bucks they would pay. Scrummaging alone they'd be worth their weight. Quite frankly, both RA and NZR should be talking to their Argentine counterparts about setting up a direct path for Argentine talent to make their way into our squads. Say 3-5 per squad.

The horse has bolted....most of these players are already off to Europe and/or Japan.

Saw an article on Facebook that Albert Hopoate has been cut from the Sea Eagles, might be worth a look

This lack of signing or re-signing news is getting bloody frustrating, Even if we announce that are keeping a few of the up and coming kids just some news.

There could be a reason they aren’t saying anything while the State Of Origin is still in progress ;-)

He’s not doing much for me tonight, better season than last year for Easts though.
I don’t think he’s actually ever mastered loig. Despite that he’s made the Origin team for the last 3 years, on the back of a few star performances.

He’s 25 now, it’s this cycle or not at all if he wants a crack at playing for the Wallabies, I’m happy to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Oh, he’d be in the Tahs squad for sure. I’m unsure about Wallabies though (fresh out of school you’d have thought he was a certainty).
