Rebels 2021

Apparently Rebels have signed Michael Icely from Eastwood. He plays 6 or 8.

Sauce: Eastwood game vs Warringah. Commentator stated it during the game on STAN

Interesting, not as just a medical joker I guess. Naisarani and Leota are both leaving.

Is he any good Blackadder?

In the pursuit of balance, the team does need players of a similar playing style to Naisarani and Leota - Muscle men who can wrestle hard and make dents when running. Losing both of them is tragic.

Pone cannot be the only player who can really get on the front foot. Rebels will be in the same boat as the tahs - lacking go forward.

Pone needs to get fitter, imo. Watching Tupou's effort across the full 85 (!) was a new benchmark for props. Not expecting Pone to match that, but there's the mark and he should be working to get close to it.

My exact concern. Wells, Hardwick, Wilkin all great defensively but collectively don't offer what Isi does in attack. Also Marika leaving doesn't help our go forward

It is almost two steps forward and four steps back when it comes to our list. We fill some holes in our list and then other talented players leave and we have even bigger holes to fill on our list.

From what I watched the backs really struggled in face of Blues Rush defence....I think your new Wallabies (read Rebels) attack coach will have his work cut out. I assume he is therefore basing himself in Melbourne for TT season.

I think the Rebels desperately need a player that can get post contact meters. Without Pone and Naisarani the team has almost no player that’s going to dominate collisions. Normally you’d combat this with players that have quick feet and speed however there isn’t any of that available either. It’s all very passive.

Can we also please stop the experiment of Leota at lock.

Hosea back this week, Leota prob to 6 or 20.

I honestly believe or main problem is us just waiting for the opposition to make a mistake. (here me out) the way we are trying to exit is killing us & giving away a huge amount of ground. It can only be a point of setting up defensively but Powell is passing back 15m to To'omua who is kicking out of our goal line under pressure out no further than the 22. We can blame Joey not being able to box kick because he was doing it last yr at the brumbies we cant say its because hodge is not in the side because he was never the option when he was in the side. I mean ffs you put the ball in the air forcing the winger to sit underneath it on the half way mark & markia is running to compete I dont care if your Tom Wright, Will Jordan or Jonah Lomu your going to have a peek & a nervous jump at it. Even if this is the case is it any worse they bring it back to the 10m line in open play than a line out on the 22?

ps yes the scrum was the worst it has been ever even with the best 3 scumagers we have in the front row.

rant over

Leota can do it on his day but he should be backrow with Kemeny. Wells needs to be benched.

This exactly it our kicking game is hopeless. To'omua’s exits were woeful and put us under so much pressure.

Both his and Powell kicks were terrible last night. One of Powell’s box kicks late in the piece looked like it went sideways from where I was sitting.

The blues wanted to play with ball in hand and were on top so instead of kicking the ball away as soon as we got possession we had to maintain possession.

I felt as much as it was too little to late we looked better late in the game with Gordon on, I would start him next week push To'omua out to 12

time to start Carter Gordon for the rest of the year. Shift To'omua to 12 and Magnay to 13.

Provides that additional kicking game. And a good one too

Was about to post the exact same thing.

Also time for Lomani to go back to the bench, need a wing who is actually the size of a wing. He was destroyed against the Blues.

No point playing Wessels ball for the next 4 weeks, ACT can we borrow Hill? He at least got the attack firing.
