Anyone know who they are signing with (beside Katoa)?

Ones I can confirm there have been at least discussions (some potentially done deals):

Isaiya Katoa: Dolphins
Oniti Finau: Waratahs
Bryn Edwards: Waratahs
Lachlan Hooper: Waratahs/Brumbies
Doug Phillipson: Force

Also have heard a few more that I can't confirm.

An interesting way to look at it, who would be picked in a combined team:

1. Brown (2018)
2. Pollard (2018)
3. Finau (2022)
4. Flaherty (2018)
5. Dring (2018)
6. ??? Thoughts? Cameron (Though he didn’t peak until later)
7. Reimer (2018)
8. Hooper (2022)
9. Phillipson (2022)
10. Katoa (2022)
11. Bryden (2018)
12. Sagala (2022)
13. Graham /Nercession (2018)
14. Galloway (2018)
15. ?? Thoughts? Maybe Dudley? Vass?

Kennedy/Livinsgtone at 6 (2022)

Narcessian at 12

Sagala at 13

Poynton at 15, fullback has been a position of weakness in both these teams, Poynton will be a star though just young. Vass obviously developed into an Aus Schools player but wasn't until 2020.

Did Vass play aus u18’s?

Brown played 2nds in 2018 Collinson was the starting 1 for barker and CAS and I’d pick sahyoun over him

I did consider it, but 2021 Waverley would have beaten 2020 Waverley.
Agree RR, Having spoken to the same Waves coaches of 2017,2020, and 2021 Waves sides, the view is that the 2021 side would have beaten the 2017 and 2020 side, and all the other great sides mentioned form knox and Barker, the forward pack alone was just so dominant, a once in a generation side.

The fact that covid prevented barker vs waverly at barker main oval in 2021 is a true tragedy would’ve been a great match to watch with a massive turnout

Agree HB, Everyone we knew from prior years was going to Barker for that special game, would have been a capacity crowd.
The poor boys from both sides were denied and unfortunately will never get the chance again, BUT there are bigger things in life, which is how we soften the blow.

Very interesting discussion on the best teams from last 10 years. Well done RR1954 for suggesting it. As for a Barker I would love to hear Coach Hargreaves thoughts on the topic. But given he will never appear on this site I will give it a shot.

1. Dion Yazdani.(2021) (Best schoolboy prop in the 2021 Covid year. League)
2. Billy Pollard. 2020 Aust Schools
3. Sam Sayoun. (2022) Gen Blue)
4. Harry Flarerty. (2018) Combined States
5. Lachie Dring. (2018) Aust Babas
6. Ned Slack-Smith.(2021) Covid interupted. 2022 Aust U20 capt)
7. Luke Reimer. (2018)Aust Schools
8. Lachlan Hooper. 2022. (Gen Blue) & would beAust schools capt save for injury post Nudgee game)
9. David Tecjek. Capt. 2018 ( close with Doug Phillipsen but his sportsmanship and leadership give David the nod)
10. Isaiya katoa. (2022) Best schoolboy 5/8th since Mark Ella (League)
11. Will Lloyd. 2017 (Aust Schools)
12.Will Kennedy. 2021(Covid interrupted)
13. Matt Graham. 2020
14. Tyson Davis. 2014Aust Babas
15. Harry Jones. 2014 Aust Schools

There is so much to like about this team. Powerful ball running forwards who first phase is bullet proof, and scintillating backs who can score from anywhere with speed, skill and rock solid defence. I have also selected this based on each players performance at school. Players like Tecjek, Dring and Lloyd have all gone onto focus on study and professional careers rather than a rugby.

I’d say stovold over dring and finau over sahyoun as finau was aus u18s and also a tighthead.

Dan Stovold was a great player and a fabulous captain, but Dring & Flarerty were brilliant 2nd row partners and my pick. Finau played as a prop at school but is selected as hooker for Aust schools along with Edwards. So Barkers 2022 team has 2 hookers in the Aust team. I think Finau best position is hooker and could go on with it but as a prop Sayoun was better in my opinion. (But its close) Note in 2018 the Barker front row of Collison Pollard and Wilson was made up of 2 former breakaways or centres who were transformed into props and towelled up the Trinity front row that year that had 2 NSW players, Lambert and Hawkes.

Finau was one of the most influential player for barker, in his absence barker lost to Scot’s . When he returned against joeys he was one of the best on. When he got injured against Riverview barker barely scraped through only winning by 2 and his return against waverly he was belting the waverly blokes like I haven’t seen. Sahyoun had some great games but finau was huge in the big games and he was also selected in gen blue 2 in 2021 ahead of Jack barret at prop

Trinity Grammar are shaping up to be a strong side, Daniel Christodoulou. Sam Niulala and Max Meaghger all in the u16 Gen Blue side.

News out of the Barker paddock is that Luke Muriti, Jed Smith, Charlie Heidke, and Riley Evans are new additions to the Barker rugby programme. Any info on what position they play would be greatly appreciated.
