I was at the tournement all week did billy chalker from ACT get a mention in either team? he was a standout imo

Who is the 10 and I'll ring seage tonight and find out if he made it. He said he did a hammy in the first game in Brissy. Pulled at the first training run at SFS. Cheers

The issue with ARC comp as I remember it was that it cost too much money. All I am saying is that I think club rugby can to a certain extent achieve the same thing for a lot less money, and give more opportunity to more young talented rugby players via a pathway that everybody not just private school kids can have access too. Then the S15 franchises can have a wider choice and from a younger age if they wish. The problem is a lot of quality players dont stay in rugby long enough to get into colts, they go and play league because there is no pathway. The pathway as it stands in black and white is NTS, Australian schoolboys, Aust U/20, S15, Wallabies, or play league then switch. Why do you think a lot of the other countries are switching to national U/18 teams, rather than schoolboys teams.

Scrap NTS for a start. Anyone who thinks you can spot and retain senior talent at this age is a clown. What it then does is poison the minds of selectors for the next five years.

OK, Now I understand you; we do disagree about the ARC - nothing wrong with that.

Since this is the Oz Schools trials and selection thread lets take the subject elsewhere. It's an topic that I'm sure a few folks will be interested in. Please start a new thread outlining what specific changes you would make.

Specific; please don't just criticise the private school scenario but come up with realistic alternatives and if you can do it with using vague terms like "pathway" all the better.

Well done to all the boys. I am particulary happy that the kings boys came through as flankers although I still maintain at least one boy was dudded along the wAy.

But I have to say I am very concerned about austrAlian rugby's future looking at the halfback selections. Having seen a number of these boys over the last five years I cannot believe my eyes with the halfback selections, particularly the reserve halfback. Is that as good as there is? Thank god for will genia and his future as a wallaby for ten years.

Agreed the entire carnival was a poor reflection on Qld and Australian schools rugby, VERY amateurish, from the venue and the car park to the old maids serving the hot dogs, drinks and chips at outrageous prices. Reminded me of Brookie Oval in the seventies. Slick it was not.

just heard that at least one of those selected today in Aust A squad has stayed in Qld to compete this week in the equilivent league carnival.
Is it just me or is this wrong?
is there some way that kids must commit to Rugby for a period of time before they take their place in these rep teams?

So; 23 were named and dare I suggest that the 1st XV were not nominated separately. I can't see any reason why the Oz Schools 1st XV can't be nominated though I could see a case for the Twos to go through their paces at training first.

And are the 23 the 23 best; or is it the case that the reserves, whoever they are, are rated after the 15 best players in the Twos? These things are never advertised yet they are of interest.

Of these 23 players, who do folks think are the starters?

Can't say I know a lot about 10. Taumata and 15. Holland. What kind of players are they? A bit surprised that 3. Hoskins and 13. Ingate missed out on the Ones team but there you go.

Supposing that the 23 players are the best 23, congratulations to Kings for getting 5 lads in the Ones.

You you are very possibly correct there Lee. Mrs. Vixen was so excited at Master Fox being called she missed a name but the surname is likely to be between G and H I think and is probably an open back 13/14/15.

There ends todays mental exercise children - who is it?

He's a very handy player. I know Manu Sutherland and Joe Barakat think very highly of him.
