By the way, is this the thread where we bemoan the Reds playing "boring rugby just to get a win"??

Interesting to note is that the Reds have throw more line outs and won more lineouts then any other team in the comp, wonder if that's the Reds game plan or the other teams

I think the team that ran out on the weekend is probably our best XV at this stage. Sorry Saia and Leroy.

Good to see the pigs put in the hard yards from the start for once. Even better they never left off for the entire 80 mins. Qld dominated the game imposed their will on the oppo. Top stuff.

Even better we get the whining, bitter, Tahs trolls in the thread trying to start a shit fight.

Disagree with the Hanson remark. Hanson was fairly good around the park, but his throwing wasn't too impressive. When Fainga'a came on he bought a spark to the forward pack. Not to discount Hanson's ability, The Reds can sleep tonight knowing they have two quality S15 level hookers.

True Reds fans, among Rabbitohs fans, and perhaps Richmond fans as well would be the most battle hardened and mentally degraded in the country. Ha ha, as one of them it is so nice to have a winning team again.

It was a good couple of years of schoolboy rugby, this is certain.

That's becauseuntil this round the Reds have kicked away more pill than any other team in the comp, apart from team Cipriani (you'd know that if you listened to the G&GR podcast)

But don't get me wrong, was a magnificent win well played. I hope to see Sanchez and Quade reproduce it for the Wobs.

Just amusing to see the red boot on the other foot

how bloody good was that! the atmosphere was electric and it seemed the whole stadium was on the edge of their seat.

the stormer's defence was amazing but the red's was even better.
there was a lot of kicking in this game but the stormer's kicking appeared to be with far less purpose. not grant's best game but a season best for genia/cooper.
what has become of habana?
a Fainga'a at 13 was a masterstroke (although i was a little worried after an early break by fourie). no one should ever doubt the link.

Amen brother!!!!!! They were long hard years in the wilderness, copping shit from tahs & ponies fans, not to mention bloody kiwis.

But the flashy stuff doesn't work all the time, got to give the Stormers defense credit, they read the plays pretty well when we were on attack, and when it wasn't working, the old fashioned way was the go.

I understand the Reds have kicked away the most ball, but the statistic is in relation to the number of lineouts that the Reds have thrown in on(ie the amount of ball opposing teams have kicked out), maybe opposition teams are putting the ball out more against the Reds to prevent the counter attack, maybe as you say its correlates directly to the amount in which the Reds have been kicking.

I think its a bit early to claim the Reds are the new Tahs in terms of boring rugby, shit if we jumped to conclusions after just one game of rugby then the Tahs would have been the worst team in history after there home ground loss to the Cheetahs. And i guess, there is always the statistic that the Reds have scored more then 100 extra points then the opposition in the past 4 rounds LOL.

But in all seriousness, i think trawling back through many of us predicted that was the style of game that they would implement, go back further and a few of us were suggesting that Link gave QC (Quade Cooper) the licensce to thrill against the Rebels and Lions to brush the attacking cobwebs out in preparation for these bigger matches. Since the first two rounds where the Reds were caught off-guard, there have been two distinct playing styles from the Reds, all-out attack(Rd 5 & 6), and the tactical field possession style(Rd 4 and Rd 8 ), the last game against the Cheetahs was about 50/50 i reckon, they used that game to prepare for the Stormers.

I think it points to a good kicking game - Cooper and Sanchez have been kicking nicely to the pocket, forcing the oppo to go to touch. And they've been doing it A LOT. IMO was what head fucked the Stormers, it's usually their tactic

Which if that's the case, it makes you wonder whether Link predicted this would happen hence his emphasis on signing AWH and Samo for the 2011 season, ie securing his lineout jumping stocks.
